The End Of Rebels

SPOILER FREE!

Star Wars Rebels has come to an end. I have to say I wasn't sure if Rebels could ever live up to the standard set by the Clone Wars but Dave Filoni delivered another great show. I might not always agree with the direction he takes but it is evident that he genuinely understands what makes Star Wars resonate with people and obviously has a deep love for it himself. I just want to say thank you to Dave Filoni for keeping Star Wars alive on the small screen while we continue to be bombarded with 2nd and 3rd rate film entries from the "fans" over at Disney. I really hope Kathleen Kennedy sees the light and starts making magic again but it seems doubtful at this point. Frankly Jar Jar Abrams and Rian Johnson should be ashamed but ultimately it is Kathleen Kennedy at the helm and her responsibility.

Now on to the finale. I don't want to give anything away so suffice it to say that all paths converge to make a satisfying and bitter-sweet close to an overall great show. All of the faces you hope to see turn up and the battle to free Lothal begins in earnest and features some great Star Wars action. All of the revelations and plot tie-ins from earlier seasons really brought Rebels home for me, it went from an alright show to a great one for me in just five episodes and that takes real talent. Dave Filoni needs to be congratulated again for storytelling foresight, it is rare to see a plot woven as expertly over multiple seasons as Rebels has managed to do.

With all of the Star Wars disappointments in my life it is really a breath of fresh air to have something end well and be made with actual care. I can safely say that I experienced much more emotion watching Rebels than I did any of the last six Star Wars movies. I think as with Clone Wars this series will become something that I re-watch from time to time, it achieved that original trilogy quality of timelessness. A well crafted story, great animation and memorable characters all serve Rebels as well today as they will in fifty years. I am glad this show existed and I wish Dave Filoni luck on his next project and remember, the Force will be with you, always.

Sort:

I never saw any of the shows. Maybe I'll check them out. From what I hear they are better than half of the movies.

Yes, I consider Rebels and Clone Wars to be much better than any of the Star Wars movies we have had over the past 20 years. Thanks for reading!
