Declaring Health Care "Universal" Doesn’t Make It So

Do any of the countries which are typically said to have "universal healthcare" actually meet the World Health Organization's definition of universal coverage? It sure doesn't look like it.

There is a disconnect between universal healthcare policy and what the result of such policy is. "Healthcare for all" slogans may sound good but in countries that are frequently pointed to as an example we should be following, they have their own problems. Statistics like 16,000 dead waiting for healthcare and only 20% of cancer patients being treated within the recommended amount of time are truly frightening. Solutions other than government mandates can lead to better outcomes.
