Seven Days Is Too Long
There is a huge difference between the temporary and meaningless nature of social media posts, and what we are creating here on Steemit. You can be careless and bold and just do whatever on other websites. You'll post memes and jokes and photos and it's basically like the garbage can now. Anything goes.
I have had a Steemit account for three weeks and I am using it differently than other websites. I want to post quality content and so I have been very cautious about my first posts. I don't want to be too outrageous.
However my last Story was uploaded a week ago and in internet terms, a billion years ago.
There have been some changes since I started. Firstly, the editor changed. On mobile I still see the formatting tools, but on my desktop I only see a text box with no formatting clues except a link to the markdown guide. I can still post picture and video links easily, but what I noticed is that as per some suggestions, https://www.steemit.com/submit.html will now save your draft automatically. Thank you!!
Another thing I noticed is that instead of the former drop down menu at the top, we now have a very clean looking "new hot trending promoted active" links. This is excellent! It shows that Steemit is continuing to improve.
When I started I really had very little understanding of what this was or how it worked, but I have been reading a lot and learning all that I can. My limited experience with Bitcoin was a good launching pad, but there are different rules to Steem, and you better learn them fast!

When you start Steemit you want to Author quality content, contribute engaging comments and vote on stories that you find valuable and believe others will "Esteem" as well. You should consider turning some Bitcoin into Steem Power, which is easy enough to do by clicking the three lines on the top right and selecting "Buy Steem". Select either "Steem" or "Steem Power" and scan the QR code with your Bitcoin Wallet.
