Homework for Social Studies Lesson || Drug and Drug Abuse

I would be participating in this homework assignment for the first time in the community. I hope mine academic competence would be rated and rewarded duly too.

What is Drug Abuse?

Drug Abuse simply means the unhealthy or unauthorized way to use certain groups of drugs in the body system. There are various drugs as we all know and there are some drugs naturally harmful to the body when used in an unhealthy manner.

Drug Abuse could also be termed such when the specific legal drug use is compromised or illegal drug use is carried out. There are special drug enforcement agency which detect wrong use of drugs and sanction defaulters. Most drug abusers face the wrath of the law, ending in huge jail term or capital fine punishment.

Uses of Drugs

Resuscitation in Body Breakdown :

The body is subject to breakdown due to certain factors such as stress, unhealthy diet or contaminated environment. These drugs enhanced a sporadic resuscitation in patients who have sickness or illness. Drugs serve as important catalyst which speed up the recovery of certain body tissues.

Inducing Sleep in Patients :

Some drugs are composed of special chemical properties which induces sleep or causes an automatic response through nerve impulses in the body tissues, thereby causing sleep or shut down in major body systems.

Stimulant against Depression :

Some patients or individuals are possessed with depression in cases which could be alarming. This could also be a caused by death of loved one or failure in an examination. These special drugs, depressants acts as stimulants against depression. These drugs make them forget their worries and feel good for a brief period of time.

Stimulants for Strength and Function :

Some drugs are taken by individual to get strong and functionality. Getting lots of work done in a short time frame, thus yielding effective results in a short time. A good example is the tramadol. People take this drugs as it plays crucial role as a hypersensitive stimulant

Induces Pain Relief :

Some drugs are known as pain relief. They supply special effect to the body, acting as pain relief. As these drugs diffuse into the body the cause a decline in the pain sensation transmitted by the nociceptors in the body. This explains that drugs are very important in pain relief too.

List and Explain different forms of drug abuse

• Consumption of Hard Drugs:
  Some drugs are termed hard drugs as they provide a negative influence on behaviour and conduct of the consumer, this triggering vices that are dangerous and could be catastrophic to the health. These drugs are thus cocaine, marijuana just to mention but a few.

• Inappropriate Use of Legal Drugs :
  Some legal drugs could be malhandled causing dangerous side effect. An overdose of an injection could cause a reactive effect of fainting or unconsciousness due to tissue poisoning. Therefore legal drugs should e properly handled for better results in the body too.

• Dangerous dosage of legal Drugs :
  Some drugs are taken in under-dosage or over-dosage as these could be dangerous for the body system too. It is a form of drug abuse which could cause cases death in cases of overdose or madness too. Underdose is also dangerous as ailments that are not well treated would surface in a worse form.

Causes Of Drug Abuse

• Depression :

An individual depressed could easily take some stimulants to make them happy or high, therefore forgetting their sorrows and making them happy

• Peer pressure Influence :

Most individual abuse drugs due to peer pressure Influence, as they receive from their friends. This pressure causes them to indulge in vices as drug abuse just to feel among the happening crew.

• Illiteracy and ignorance :

Some people are ignorant of most drugs also this causes them to abuse such drugs by taking them in excess. These drugs most times causes them bad side effects and most times death.

Due to the gravity of her headaches, she took a good chunk of the drugs to relieve her of her ailment, she ended up in the hospital due to drug poisoning and hight toxicity}

Write down your experience with Drugs

I have actually been sick and visited a pharmacy, who gave me mixed drugs to take. The pharmacy nurse put wrong drugs for me in the mixed satchet. I got home after taking the drugs, I had a sharp pain surging through my head. I started feeling dizzy and the rest was history

However, I woke up few hours to doctors filled in a room, it was observed that I took "codeine" in the supposed drug mixture with heavy antibiotic component too.

Drug abuse is dangerous and can kill. Stay safe.
