Climbing Lanín Volcano
We went on a hike with a local mapuche guide through the wilderness near to Lanín volcano on the border of Chile and Argentina in the Villarrica National Park.
One of the things I love about hiking this region in the summer is the wildlife. We came across a harmless tarantula which I obviously tried to pick up - you know me by now.
After our gruelling two hour climb we reached the plateau where we got a great view of Lanín from much closer to the summit. Surrounded by the monkey puzzle we felt the huge presence of the volcano.
