Sleep is very important in all aspects of a person’s life and not separation from it are physical and mental health. Researchers have not only tried to determine the necessity of sleep in people’s lives but also its utility. It is crucial in memory, whereby after a day, the brain forms a way of processing the information that remains important. Also, sleep maintains body tissues and heals them, promotes growth and enhances body immunity.

One of the most interesting things that has been found out about sleep is the fact that it occurs in cycles. It can be indicated that people pass through five stages of sleep which include the REM stage and the non-REM stages. It lasts for about 90 minutes and they are sensitive to repeat in the entire period of a night. Among the stages of sleep, REM sleep is said to be linked to dreaming and other functions like learning as well as problem solving.

Some of the usual sleep disorders such us insomnia and sleep apnea do affect health. Continued studies indicate that there is a need for treatment and intervention regarding the quality of sleep, which is an important but neglected factor in individuals’ functioning.
