Ulog 18: Cymbals and Drum Kit

in #music6 years ago

I'm using a Sonor Force 3007, 6 piece drum kit with a fusion kit specifications which a lot of gospel drummers use jowadays. Here are the specifications of my German made Sonor:

14" snare
10" & 12" rack toms
14" & 16" floor toms
22" kick/bass drum

This is the kit that I have at home but I usually play at church kit which is a Misha set. Misha is a kit that's designed by a friend of mine and made it in China. Because he's my friend, I got to choose specific wood and specifications although what I picked was pretty basic in the end.

The Misha kit specifications are:

Fusion specifications as well but the snare is a Sonor snare which is my brother's.

13" Sonor snare
10" & 12" rack toms
14" floor tom
22" kick/bass drum

It's made from Birch wood which sounds really clean and has lots of pop especially if you tune it a little on the high end. I love the toms high and the bass drum low so you can really have lotsa layers and mix into the tones you get from each drum.

My Cymbals

I'm mainly using Meinl cymbals, a German brand which I have varieties of them made in Germany and Turkey. Here are the Meinl cymbals I'm using:

Meinl B8 6" splash
Meinl Byzance 4" splash
Meinl 18" Byzance Thin Crash
Meinl Amun 20" Ride Cymbal
Meinl Benny Greb signature Trash Hats

I also have a 6" Meinl Bell as well as a 14" Benny Greb signature Hi-Hats but I don't use them unless it's at a bigger room setting like an auditorium or a 200-300 seater conference room at least. The volume on those hats are really loud but precise and crisp. I really love them and relish the very little I get to play with them.

In church in using my brother's Hi-Hats which is a 14" Paiste. Very bright and not as loud and rough as my Meinl Hi-Hats but very unique and love using them as well. We also have another crash which is a 14" Sabian.

One of my favourite cymbals of mine has got to be the 18" Amun Ride Cymbal. It's no longer in making as the Amun series in Meinl was replaced by the Byzance as it was 2 very similar series which they decided to continue the not so popular one. I got this cymbal for one of my birthdays from my church mates.

The tone of the cymbal and it's rough yet bright pings are really brilliant. The bell is loud and clear as it should and you can really get a lot of volume as well as manipulate it's tones with different strokes. You really can get a lot out of this piece of equipment and it has got to be my favourite cymbal of all time. I'm grateful and happy I get to play with such a piece week in and week out.

Here's a picture of it....
