Death, Sickness, and a New Original, only here on Steemit

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

Lately it has been a physical struggle. A few days ago my back "went out" as they say, so I've been on my back quite a bit, plus I seem to have some type of throat problem/head cold, and singing is a struggle. The good news is that when I'm not feeling well I usually write a song, so I decided to record it and share it with you, for another exclusive steemit release.

The vocals are a little rough, but it seems to fit okay with this song, which is a little bit on the sad side.

I started writing it as I began thinking about how much people change over the years. This past weekend was an emotional one as I attended the memorial service of a close friend's father. He was a kind and caring man, and he helped me and a lot of my friends when we were younger. We all showed up to pay our respects, and I saw some friends that I hadn't seen in 20 years.

Sometimes life has a way of wearing us down, and the spark we once had has gone missing, and at times we even become something we swore we'd never be. That's what this song is about, and the character in this song is lamenting the fact that "Regina" is no longer the same as she once was.

Thanks again for your support everyone, and to @DSound for this platform.

Lyrics:

You had questions for all their answers, you had answers in return
You saw through things we never noticed and the things we never learned

Oh Regina when does the light go out you’re the only one I know who could say
Oh Regina maybe it was never there or maybe it left along the way

You said this world it does damage, it can leave you feeling cold
This world it can keep you searching till an emptiness takes hold

Oh Regina when does the light go out you’re the only one I know who could say
Oh Regina I fear I’m almost there or maybe it left along the way

You had vision and passion you knew things we didn’t know
But did you notice when it left, did it come fast or was it slow

Oh Regina when did the light go out you’re the only one I know who could say
Oh Regina I know it was there but somehow it left along the way

I'm sorry about your throat and back.
I pray you get well soon and quickly too. Have you taken medication?

About the song, it's story is dope.

Cheers @danieldyemusic

Thank you @fada.emma. No medication, but I'm feeling better-lots of rest, vitamins, liquids, and writing songs always helps as well!

Okay.

I'm glad to know you're feeling better.

Stay strong @danieldyemusic

Good song brother, resteemed

Dang another great one. I sang along and wanted to cry by the end. Thanks for the music @danieldyemusic.

Looking forward to singing it with you @sdkelly!

Lovely song, i especially like those doubled vocals

Thank you Deon, or @kryptoe! What should I call you? After all this time, I suppose I should know...

@pwangdu you crack me up. Thank you. I always look forward to your choice of words.

Life sometimes plays a cruel game with our emotions

Leaving us with no choice at all to decide the state of minds we need through our journeys on earth

LIFE IS A MONOPOLIST OF DECISIONS!

There's no doubt about that.

Oh!!!
It is a heart touching story,

Regards from Berlin

Thank you, and what a great city! I lived there for a while...

Wow!!!
I hope you will come back soon.

I may be there in December of this year for the holidays...

Thanks for the lyrics, I love song lyrics as most of the time its meaningful and describe some story !
