Sitting is worse than smoking

We sit a lot nowadays. So many people have jobs that requires hours of sitting in front of a computer. But while we are earning money, we are ruinning our health. Our bodies are designed for moving. We cannot be healthy without moving. Our bodies actually detoxify through moving. So just move!! As much as you can, moving is life.

The effects of sedentary lifestyle are pretty bad - all types of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, depression and mood disorders, memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer's, type 2 diabetes, erectile dysfunction and loss of sex drive, deterioration of spinal health. We are just not programmed to be inactive, our bodies' natural state is movement. And sitting all day and than after work going to the gym and exercise upon artificial light - that's not so good. We need daily natural sunlight and outdoor movement, especially walking. A lot of walking.. the more we walk, the better. It is the most natural movement. Sitting is super unnatural position for our bodies. So as steemians, it is clear that we sit a lot, and we need to neutralise the effects of all this sitting.

What does walking give you? It improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, stops loss of bone mass, and decrease risk of hip fractures, slows mental decline, lowers Alzheimer's Risk, improves your mood, helps you live longer. Walking makes the body releases endorphins. Endorphins reduce pain and stress while creating sensations of pleasure and euphoria. Endorphins act much like antidepressants, but without the side effects, synthetic drugs, and addictive properties. Walking stimulates brain function. It is a symmetrical movement, and many of our activities are one-sided. Symmetrical movements help us keep our bodies aligned and balanced and reduce tensions. Have you noticed that not long after starting a walk, you become more relaxed, and some good ideas start arriving? Our natural gait is a cross-pattern movement - opposite arm and leg move back and forward together. It balances our autonomic nervous system and enhance brain function by developing the neurological pathways between the right and left halves of our brain.

Your lymphatic system acts as your body’s drainage system, filtering and removing waste products from your body. Without your lymphatic system, your cardiovascular and immune systems would begin to shut down. When the fluid in your lymphatic system is thick and sluggish with toxins, your muscles don’t get the blood they need, your organs feel painful and tight, and your energy levels are low. These parts of the body are moving most when we are walking, so one of the best way to activate your lymphatic flow is a brisk walk. We are designed to walk and detox simultaneously, not to sit all day, drowning in toxins.
