The Gap Between Poverty And Wealthy
That’s it, not even 1 whole length of a football field is what separates poverty from wealthy in this coastal area of Los Angeles County, California.
These 2 mansions set along a row of mansions spanning about a 1/2 mile down the length of a channel that leads to the Pacific Ocean. This is looking at their front door, about a mile beyond these mansions is all beach sand and waves. The view from their front window (directly behind me), just beyond the 9’ tall rot iron fence is the channel. Watching people fish here, exercise, boating and wake boarding is a typical day. All that separates the channel from these mansions is a public parking area about 50 yards wide.
This is their view. It’s pretty calm out there right now. Calm and quiet, but it’s mid week and it’s early. Before long it’ll be loud again just to quiet back down. You get a calm view and a party view of this channel, just depends what time of day it is.
See that railing though? This is the same view as above, just a few degrees to the left. This view has a different lifestyle pictured. There’s a handful of park benches to the left and you can see the closest bench is occupied. It’s occupied every day by the same resident. There’s a gentlemen laying down on that bench and he calls it home.
Home right here is a park bench with enough room to sleep and park a couple shopping carts full of earthly things. Whereas directly behind me, just 50 yards away is this gentleman’s view; those mansions. And that’s the difference between poverty and wealthy: about 50 yards.
