SteemPH Meet-Up Caravan 2nd Stop - Kawit, Cavite

Our Cavite meet-up, which is the second stop for the SteemPH Meet-Up Caravan was quite a different experience from our First Meet-Up in Malolos, Bulacan.

For one, the venue in Malolos was only about 7 minutes away from our residence; the one in Cavite was more than 70 kilometers away. We started our 2 and a half-hour drive before 7am and had time to grab breakfast before the venue opened.

The Venue

Cafe Moraco sits along Centennial Road in Kawit, Cavite. They have a function room at the second floor, which was perfect for the gathering. We had ample seats and there was more than enough room for the presentation. We rented the space for 3 hours and got a package for 7,000php, which included the food.

Discussion

As I have mentioned in my post, The SteemPH Meet-Up Caravan Is All Set For CAVITE!, we have made drastic changes in our discussion flow knowing that there will be more non-steemians in this meet-up. After introducing ourselves to the group, we proceeded with the introduction to Steemit and showed the video created by the awesome @monkeypattycake. We find the video to be comprehensive and pretty much sums up what non-steemians would need to know to get started in the platform. We then discussed a bit of the blockchain technology, and how Steem is different from all other cryptocurrencies.

Content Creation is still something that we touched on since we have been advised by @watersnake101 that they had questions about Bayanihan curation. We showed them the grid that Sndbox follows in upvoting contents from Sndbox fellows. We discussed how each SteemPH hub now has a Daily Featured Post, and the criteria that we follow for those posts to be curated by @steemph.curator. We told them about the lessons in @steemnest and how it might help them in creating their content.

The different tools and apps connected to the Steem Blockchain were also discussed. We showed them Steemd, Busy.org, SteemWorld, and went into details about utopian.io. We talked about how @steemitph and I have contributed in the past and how they too can contribute and get rewarded.

In our meet-up in Malolos, we learned that in voting for witnesses, everybody pretty much knew how to do it and that what we need to drive is why they should. Aside from the Steemph-endorsed witnesses, @ausbitbank, @surpassinggoogle, @cloh76.witness, and @precise, we also told them about the witnesses we personally chose.

Powering Up is something that we have been driving even during our 1st meet-up in Malolos. We shared our vision of having a great number of dolphins in the Philippines who will be able to support the growing number of users in our country. We reminded them though that this is not a campaign to isolate ourselves from other countries, this is in fact one way of giving back to the whole Steemit platform.

We ended the session with an open discussion, wherein questions about bidbots, steem power, pay-out options, Curie, and OCD were thrown. We hope we were able to shed light on those as we tried to answer each question as best as we could with the knowledge that we had about the platform. We also presented the possibility of having a SteemPH Cavite hub. It will of course be up to them to make this a reality. We took this time to pass around a sheet of paper where the non-steemians can provide information that we will need to set up their accounts. Some of them have been waiting for 2 months to get their accounts. We will be working on creating those accounts in the next few days.
