Dark Theme Update

I have taken the opportunity to write some much needed improvements to the Blockpress Dark Theme. You can check out my github Dark theme and welcome message update. The previous themes were knocked off quickly during the Steemfest Hackaton in Lisbon and the dark theme was by far the least attractive of them. I am planning to work on improving all of the themes and this one is a good start.

The new theme is strongly influenced by chocolate orange truffles I found in my Xmas stocking. I munched them up with an espresso everyday until they were gone. After creating the theme I am sure that the truffles went to my head. I guess that's the result of styling a theme over the festive season! I could definitely eat up the profile page.

Working on this theme was really fun. I decided to play around with shadows and gradients to make different elements of the page stand out. My aim was to be subtle with it and not to go over the top, so that the theme doesn't distract the viewer from the page contents.

See if you can notice the slight gradient in the banner and a thin border and a little bit of a shadow around the images. They are barely noticeable but it makes the features more pronounced.

Colourful bullet list

I learned a neat trick using utf characters for bullet points, which enables customising their shape and colour. I love the effect. :)

Active button styling

After testing the theme I made another commit for active button styling..

I made sure that the active style also works when the user focuses on the button using keyboard instead of the mouse. Further, in another commit, I removed an outline.

I really like the 'light up' effect applied to the menu buttons.
