Measuring effectiveness is key to becoming more effective as a person

In whatever it is that you're doing it is important to keep metrics and to track results. If your goal is to sell as many widgets as possible then by tracking the number of widgets sold over different periods of time it is possible to create a metric which can help you to measure the effectiveness of your advertising campaign. In other words, to take it even deeper, your behaviors such as how you work with different amounts of sleep, how many meals or what meals to eat to be most productive, how much profit your individual effort and behaviors brought the business, all are something which can be tracked.

So the key point is that to continue to remain effective and become more effective over time requires tracking the results and measuring the effectiveness of your actions. This if it's a comedian could mean telling jokes and measuring the quality of the joke by the response it gets from an audience or many audiences over time. A highly effective joke could be a joke which gets most people to laugh in an audience most of the time it's told.
