Weekly CRICKET Review - XXXV | Okay, the celebrations just started!!

How's everything going folks? You already know that I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of the things that are going on within the Cricket community.

Well, the wait is over!! The greatest Cricket festival has just started. The 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. It's the 13th edition which will be hosted in India from October 05 to 19 November 19. Well, I will not share the details of all the matches, but the highlights and special moments. So, let's dog in!!!

Some things to know about this edition!!

• Well, there will be 10 teams playing altogether for 48 matches.

• This time qualification process was a bit different. India came through as the host nation. The other 07 teams (Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan) qualified automatically as the top 07 teams, from ICC Cricket World Cup Super League held from July 2020 to May 2023. Then Sri Lanka and Netherlands came through from the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.

• Unfortunately, this is the first time, West Indies are out of the tournament, even being 2-WC Winners.

• For the first time in history, the trophy launches into space 🚀.

• The matches are held in 10 stadiums all around India from Dharmashala to Chennai.

• There was not an opening ceremony at the start surprisingly. The official theme song of the 2023 Cricket World Cup titled "Dil Jashn Bole", was released a few weeks earlier, and personally, it isn't quite up to the mark.

• In the group stages all the teams will be played between each other and the top 04 will be advanced to the semis. As usual, the top team will compete with the 04th one and the next semi will be between the 2nd and the third. As a matter of fact, there will be reserve days allocated for the knockouts in case of emergency.

• The prize money will be as follows same as the 2019 edition.

What happened in the first 04 matches?

• Well, it's all started with the 2019 finalists, New Zealand and England, with both teams having a fair chance to be the champions. Anyway, Kiwis took sweet revenge at the start. England batted first and put 282/9 on the board. Root registered the first 50 of the tournament. Will Young of NZ went for a golden duck. Then Conway and Ravindra put up an unbeaten 273 partnership to finish the job in 36 overs.

• Then Pakistan and Bangladesh beat Netherlands and Afghanistan respectively comfortably.

• The match between Proteas and Sri Lanka ended up just before was the highlight. Batting first, SA just destroyed the Sri Lankan balling lineup. With three centuries from De Cock, van der Dussen,, and Markram they put 428/5 on the board with few records.

Anyway, SL could also score 326 runs, but without a long inning and with the scoreboard pressure they still fell short of 102 runs. With this total,
