Weekly CRICKET Review - XXIV | IPL Update

How's everything going friends? You already know that I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of the things that are going on within the Cricket community. And now it's the 24th edition. Well, time is flying with Cricket all around the park.

Well, as there are a few International matches in the last week, I thought to talk about the latest update on IPL. Eventhough I have both positive and negative feedback on this, I can't ignore the biggest franchise Cricket league on the planet. So, let's dig more.

The 16th inauguration of IPL was started on the 31st of March, with a grand opening ceremony, with so many celebrities and chief guests. 19 matches have been played so far and the competition has already become very interesting and competitive. We saw consecutive thrilling matches and amazing performances. The season has been more interesting with the new initiative of Impact Player

  • Last year's runner-up Rajasthan Royals led by Sanju Samson, are leading the table along with Super Giants and Gujarat Lions. MI and RCB are yet to make a big impact even though having a big reputation and big players. And Delhi Capitals are yet to start up their winning hunt.

  • So, far the innings have been high-scoring, and even a few 200+ scores were chased down.

  • Rashi Khan got the first hattrick of the tournament against KKR.

Memorable matches so far


  • Rinku Singh smashed 5 sixes in a row in the final over to win the match - It was the 13th match between KKR and Gujarat Titans. Batting first GT scored 204 runs with the fifties from Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar. After 2 early wickets of KKR, Venkatesh Iyer and Rana carried the innings for a good foundation. But Rashid Khan took a hattrick in the 17th over. Then it all down to the final over off Yash Dayal, needing 29 runs. 1st ball is a single. Then Rinku Singh smashed 5 sixes in the last 5 balls. This gotta be the most dramatic finish in IPL history.

  • Super Giants won by 01 wickets in the last ball against RCB - RCB batted first and scored 212/2 with classic knocks from the top 3 Kohli, Faf, and Maxwell. Chasing down the target, LSG lost 3 early wickets for 23 inside 06 overs. But then the big man, Marcus Stoinis scored 65 off 30 balls, and then 16 crore man Nicholas Pooran smashed his fifty off 15 balls.

The game was on. But then the wickets fell and Ayush Badoni hit some boundaries and just 5 needed off the final over. Ayush Badoni unluckily got hit wicket after hitting a six. In the last over Patel took two wickets and the game came down to the final over needing one run with one wicket remaining. Harsha Patel balled the last ball, tried to Mankad the non-striker and just missed the stumps. Then the batsman missed the ball, but Wicket keeper couldn't collect it clean, where the batsmen could complete the run and make it home.

So, already it's becoming more and more interesting with a lot of games to spare. We will see how things roll and I will update you meantime!!
