Introduction

Support on Steemit can come in many forms. Usually a close friend 😊, people really appreciating your work, or support from the STEEM DApps. This is probably the most official way to get support on Steemit, also the most reliable. For new users getting reliable support, even a small one is essential. That can be the difference between staying or leaving the platform.

The Steem ecosystem is growing, and there is more and more Steem DApps. With the SMT launching official date scheduled for March 2019, this can be a great opportunity.

Here I make overview and ranking of the already working steem projects that are supporting the Steemit community. I’m listing the projects who do voting, and supporting the Steeminas, not just offering services.

Recently a list of the top steem DApps was announced and here I go through them, presenting how many Steeminas each of these projects are supporting. For this I’m using the steemreports.com tool.

The projects ranking is done by the numbers of users they support. Not the weight of the votes.

The analyzed period is from 15.09.2018 to 15.10.2018. It should be noted that in this period the HF20 was happening and overall there is lower activity.

1. Partiko

Partiko is a mobile app for Steemit. It is the mobile interface for Steemit. The app is crazy fast and with beautiful design. They have been around for a short period of time, just a couple of months, but had a massive growth. And it is not surprising, because the app is nice to use and just work. Notifications are one of the great futures of the app. They have point system for the activity that is made on the app, and later this point can be redeem for upvotes. The SP of the account is still low, and it would be nice if some of the whales delegates to this app, since it is the most used app from the community at the moment. Congrats to @partiko, amazing job.

2. Busy

Busy is alternative interface for Steemit and have some nice extra futures that the Steemit interface doesn’t have. They have a system to support the users who use the platform with upvotes. It is based on how much steem power your followers have. The support comes from two accounts @busy.org and @busy.pay The bigger upvotes comes from @busy.pay and @busy.org is giving smaller upvotes. Nice work from busy. It would be nicer if the smaller account gets bigger votes as well.

3. Esteem

Esteem is also an alternative interface for Steemit, but they have a desktop application, not a web browser, and a mobile app as well. It is a nice application with great design. They also reward users for using the app.
Also, with the vote from esteem, an additional votes comes from the app creator @good-karma. I’m using this app and I have some support from it. They don’t upvote each of your posts, but just occasionally. Nice job from esteem.

4. Actifit

Actifit is one of the rising stars on the STEEM blockchain. They are around for jus 3 moths and have grown fast and become one of the top community supporters. They reward the users for being active. How cool is that. The app counts your moves, and after posting it on the steem blockchain, they reward the users in form of upvotes and tokens.
I’m a heavy user of the actifit app, also have delegated a small amount of SP. I like what they are doing, there is regular updates and constant development. Looks very promising. No wonder if in a couple of months time they are on top of this list.

5. Steemhunt

Steemhunt is a product hunt platform fueled by STEEM. They have their browser steemhunt.com where steemians can hunt products and earn steem. Also, they reward for making comments on the platform.
Steemhunt have a airdrop in the moment in for their user in a form of lottery. A nice opportunity for everyone to earn some steemhunt tokens. Steemhunt also looks very promising with focus on building community.

6. Tasteem

Tasteem is Steem based restaurant review platform. They have their web platform tasteem.io where steeminas can post a review of a restaurant. There are rules in place what elements the review should have, like photos from the restaurant exterior, interior, menu and the food. After posting the review they reward their users with upvotes. This can be a very enjoyable work to do 😊.

7. Steepshot

Steepshot is a lightweight app for sharing photos. They have an android app, and a web as well. It is an easy way for sharing photos on the Steem blockchain. Instagram like, lightweight app.

8. Dlike

  • 409 users supported from @dlike

Dlike is also one of the lightweight DApps on the Steem blockchain. They are known as the Pinterest of the Steemit platform. An app and a web interface is available for the Steemit users.

9. Dtube

  • 408 users supported from @dtube

Dtube is a platform for sharing videos on the steem blockchain. They also give support for their users in form of upvotes. They don’t upvote each of your videos, but just occasionally. Nice job from Dtube.

10. Utopian

Utopian is rewarding contributions to Open Source. They have a lot of categories for contributing like translation, development, tutorial, blog, graphics etc. They also have a strict set of rules that must be respected. After posting, review is made by their stuff and the contribution is evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines. According to the evaluation, later they upvote the contribution. They maybe on the last place on this ranking but are on the first place by the value of the votes they give. Utopian is one of the best project on the Steem blockchain.

Steem-ua

@steem-ua is not a DApp, but an alternative user ranking system that awards its delegators. They are also a young Steem project, but have already collected a serious amount of SP. They have become very popular in a short period of time and had awarded quite a big number of Steeminas. The vote from the @steem-ua is based on the user authority and the post itself.

Honorable mention

In addition to the DApps above I will mention @steempress, a WordPress plugin that allows bloggers to share their content from a web page, then @steemstem a scientific DApp on the Steem blockchain, supporting science and @air-clinic a medical DApp on the Steem blockchain, aiming to provide medical support for its users.

Conclusion

From all the project presented above we can see that at the moment the Steemit ecosystem provide support to its users in a variety of different ways. There is something for everyone, no doubt about that. Some of this project may still need a little bit refining, and some of them need more support in form of delegation.

But if one is willing to grow here on Steemit there is a majority of opportunity out there, from tracking his activity to reviewing restaurants or making contribution to the open source projects. All in one Steemit is amazing place to be.

Hi @dalz, great to see you contributing to the Utopian analysis category! You've chosen an interesting topic on Steem and gave a nice and brief overview of the currently most prominent Steem DApps. However, the analysis part of the contribution is a bit on the short end. From the analysis perspective, you've only shown the number of individual votees per DApp, but barely compared those. The data is directly coming from steemreports, so there is no own data collection and processing part involved. Include more aspects for a more differentiating picture. There are huge SP differences between the accounts that should be included in a ranking. The voting strategy of the different dApps is very different, so a relative number of rewarded posts may be helpful as well. For a detailed picture, I think you won't get around to query the blockchain yourself, either directly or via a database service. Checkout other contributions in this category to get a picture on what others are doing and how to get the data.

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.

Thanks for the detailed review @crokkon.
I'm aware that this analysis is not in the strict rulles of utopian, but wanted to see how it will go and to have some feedback from your side.

Will work to improve it according to your sugestions. You have noticed well the weith of the votes is very diffrent and that is something that need to be taken into consideration. In the beginnig I have stated that this is just by the number of users voted. But will try to iclude vote weight as well.

Thank you for your review, @crokkon!

So far this week you've reviewed 4 contributions. Keep up the good work!

Brilliant article, have tried some of these, but not all! Great reading!
