Our Magical Getaway to Beautiful Greyton ❤️🦉🥂 Cocktails, Creativity & Nature!
2018 has certainly kicked off with a bang, for a while there it was the kind of bang that sneaks up on you from behind and then knocks the wind right out of you but I’m grateful to report that the bang has become a whole lot more exciting and inviting in the last few weeks.
I have a few projects in the pipeline that are so perfectly inline with my intentions for this year that I’m almost having to pinch myself to believe they could actually be true. Everything is very much in the planning stages and I don’t want to spill the beans too soon so for now I’m afraid you’re going to have to wait for the details.
In the meantime I can share with you a recent trip to Greyton that Em and I booked as a creative, workshop/getaway.
I’d never been to Greyton before but after a beautiful two hour drive we arrived in a little town that I immediately fell head over heels in love with.
It is the quaintest, prettiest, sleepiest and cutest place I’ve been to in a while. There’s one main road that houses everything from little boutiques and cafes to picturesque BNB’s and the local pub. You have to drive slowly to ensure the safety of the Rusta communities horses that roam freely all over town - upon our arrival we had to wait a few minutes to allow a foal to finish nursing in the middle of the road before he and his Mum made way for us! ❤️
Knowing we would need one night to unwind before being able to tap into our combined creative genius, we had booked two nights so after a few (ridiculously competitive) games of cards we turned in for the night, excited for the morning we had planned.
First on the agenda was a little walk to a waterfall in the nearby reserve, the sight of which - to any Capetonian right now - was miraculous! Next we hopped on our bicycles and peddled into town to explore the local market and the various cafes and shops surrounding it. Having filled my basket to the brim with snacks for lunch we peddled back - in a slightly more laborious way - up the hill for lunch, cocktails and the start of our workshop.
In a rather hilarious moment a baboon decided to pop into the garden for a visit just as we’d packed out our picnic so we very quickly stashed it all back inside till he’d finished chomping on the apple tree and mozied on to the Neighbour’s.
The afternoon turned out to be nothing short of inspired with a dash of hysterical as the cocktails and our creative juices flowed.
Many, many hours later, after countless card games and terrible sing a longs we flopped into bed, more than pleased with our progress and only a little concerned about the hangovers we knew we were going to wake up with! The next morning, bleary eyed but laughing as we watched the videos we’d taken the night before, we packed up and said our goodbyes before hitting the road in search of a farm stall pie - as if the weekend needed to be any better we undoubtedly found the best spinach and feta pie on the face of the planet! We’ll definitely be back soon, for some more Greyton magic... and another pie! 😍
Sending love and light your way,
Daisy xx
