SynchroGnostic and the Alchemical Other (part 1 of 4) - An Exploration into the Magic of Synchronicity

in #synchronicity8 years ago (edited)

What is synchronicity? Have you experienced this interesting part of our reality and lives?

The following is part 1 of 4 portions of a chapter in a book called The Sync Book 2: Outer + Inner Space, Shadow + Light: 26 Essays on Synchronicity (Volume 2) that I wrote in 2011, and was published in 2012. We are going to engage in a subject I think people will find very interesting and I first want to go back to this piece I wrote 5 years ago.

...

One day, when I was 17 years old, I was on my way to work. I drove to the edge of my neighborhood, looked both ways before needing to turn left, and then proceeded to make my turn. Barreling down the street came another car out of nowhere, which then hit the side of my car, breaking my car's axle. When got out to see what had happened, I looked back and saw another car with my friend in it. I'll explain in a little bit, but seeing my friend was a great surprise that led to a wonderful experience of realizing that I had just peeled back a layer of reality, connecting me to something that I had just begun thinking about prior to the wreck. At that moment, I didn't think about the Wreck, but the directly-felt presence of reality unlike any I'd ever realized before. This would be my first experience of realized synchronicity, and it would change my life forever.

Before I get into more about this experience, let me explain some of my life up to this point:

I can remember wondering about deep concepts of reality going back at least to the age of six. I can remember conceptualizing and pondering about what can and cannot be done with reality, and I can remember coming up with concepts about bending reality as well. Even then, I did not think this was something "normal" for a boy my age, but I thought, "Whatever, I'm going to be a Jedi, Wizard, etc...."

I came into this world interested in things like science and science fiction as soon as I could see, and it always seemed like mystical perspectives of reality came naturally. When I Stepped out of the box of wondering and began to work into the idea of experimentation, I attempted to try and see if there was any validity to these things... maybe I'm just pure Crazy, but even at an early age I began to think of ways of experimenting with my reality and the reality around me.

Throughout my adolescence and into my teens, I had a great interest in the mysteries of life, I was interested in subjects from aliens and UFOs to conspiracies surrounding JFK and MLK. I also liked the spiritual realm-looking for ghosts and spirits and the "supernatural," I had always wondered how anyone could be bored, knowing how interesting and weird reality truly is.

By the time I was 17, I was already initiated into subjects like magic and had a keen sense of questioning authority, with a natural attraction towards the countercultures ... at the time it was the mid-90's, so counterculture for me was 80's/90's punk rock with a dash of the 60's hippy revolution era. Most of my friends at the time were too interested in being anti-parent and listening to angry music, but somehow, in the midst of things, intelligent conversations over many cups of coffee seemed to slip through. A friend of mine then lent me a book about synchronicity.

This particular book was popular at the time-and eventually they even made the thing into a movie. It would only take the first chapter to teach me the lessons I was ready to understand at that point in my life. Once it fell into my hands, I found the doorway to the mysteries of synchronicity.

A day or so before my car wreck, my friend (who lent me the book on sync) and I had been discussing this book. The idea of synchronicity was well in my head. The basic concept behind the book was that, the more you seek synchronicity, the more you realize that it is happening to you all the time. It responds to you. The more you pay attention to it, the more of it you will see and experience in your own life.

Imagine what I must have been thinking. I had just gotten into the Wreck, while the very book I was speaking about was on the passenger side of my car. And I got out of the car, only to notice that the girl who had lent me the book on synchronicity was a part of the synchronicity that I was experiencing. She was Working as a pizza delivery driver and the odds of her being there in that very moment could only be "coincidence." The look on her face was obvious; she realized it, too.

The guy who had slammed into me got out of his car and ran over yelling. This was long before everyone had cellphones, so, for some reason, our logic was for us to drive to my house where he could talk with my father. My friend drove me home and the guy followed us. On that car ride, we both talked about how cool it was to have had the synchronistic experience wherein she had been so perfectly in the stream of the butterfly effect that I could use her help. Honestly, I don't know how that stream of time would have played out if she wasn't there behind me.

This was when I was 17 years old - the point when synchronicity decided to literally slam into me. This was the moment I began to take synhronicity as something serious and something beyond what we understand.

...

Stay tuned. I am going to publish here on Steemit the remaining portions of my writing from this chapter.
