Drill Not Cutting it? - Pre-Drill then Impact!steemCreated with Sketch.

I was struggling with this project until I posted this picture on Instagram!

Yes, I got the advice I needed to make this project move along much more smoothly.

Here's the original statement from the Intstagram Post:

My cordless driver won't drive these Ledger Bolts and I'm 330 ft from the nearest electrical outlet. So... I either need a very long extension cord, or a stronger cordless drill.

That post showed up on Facebook too. Here are some of the responses that I got from that:

I took the advice from a couple people in the list and decided to predrill the holes (pilot holes), then to use an impact driver. Lucky for me there was one on sale this morning for Black Friday!

Here's the next instagram photo showing my appreciation!

Pre-drill and impact. Yep! Works like a charm! Thank you for your contribution to my knowledge and project 😉

This fence will surround the new bee yard.

Thank you for sharing this time with me!

Just another example of tapping into the knowledge of others to resolve an issue! Excellent share Blake!

It is amazing how willing other DIYers and homesteaders will step up to the plate and offer help and advice. That is one thing I absolutely love about the community!

I ALWAYS have issues with drilling and like you, need to do a lot of work when I don't have a socket in the vicinity. I like this idea of pre-drilling the holes and using an impact - I only have a battery drill and it honestly isn't up to the job. Again - part of homesteading is - learning which tools work and HOW to use it; might be obvious to some, but I'm NOT a natural DIYer.

Now that is awesome! Work smarter not harder! Tweeted!

See, you can teach an old dog new tricks! ;)
