Meet Lonnie Walker, he possibly will become the biggest name out of my hometown, Reading, Pennsylvania.

Reading is not always, not usually a very friendly city. I mean, I don't mind the city but I am used to what the city is like. Outsiders would honestly probably not want to hang out in Reading very long. It's not exactly friendly on the eyes either.
But I have a lot of friends and memories in the city, I don't hate it. There's always some love there.

Reading is simultaneously one of the poorest and most crime ridden cities in America, with a population less than ninety-thousand people, that's kind of saying a lot, it's tough. Summers get hot winters get cold. All the roads need work.
Reading is located about 45 minutes, without much traffic, outside of Philadelphia.

This is it.

Many youth in the city are very troubled. Drugs, violence, gangs, the whole nine yards. The kids feel like they are in a bubble in Reading. When you live there it doesn't feel like there is a way out.

This past year Lonnie Walker really made a name for himself coming out of Reading by playing basketball. He led Reading High to a State Championship. The first time in 44 years.

He is legit. A high scoring well rounded shooting guard. He got scholarship offers from big basketball schools like Kentucky, Villanova, Syracuse, Arizona, and Miami. In the end he chose the University of Miami, there he is definitely going to play.

Lonnie Walker had options to go to many prep schools to better display his skills for various college scouts. Typically scouts don't always look Reading's direction.

He says he stayed at Reading to inspire the youth. That really meant a lot to this city, that simple statement.

Please read this, it's a very good article.

Reading thanked him by showing up BIG at the state title game this May. It was the highest attended Pennsylvania State Title game ever. The commentators said it felt like a Reading home game even though it was played on neutral floor. The fans were on Reading's side that night.

This guy is a real legend already in Reading. He is a hero.

Many believe with a standout year he could be a lottery pick in the 2018 Draft. Literally typing these words about a kid from Reading is unbelievable and amazing.

Keep an eye out for him this year!!!! You heard about him here first!!! Go Lonnie!!

I am not ashamed to be from Reading. Especially thanks to Lonnie.
