Ork Hulk (Game 1) Turn 11
Frag Grenades FTW!
I mean... not literally...
This is a complex game, and while any new players are totally allowed to drop in at any point, we ask that you read the rules before deciding to play.
Game ends when a player picks up the Steem:
- 2 Steem to the player that collects the Steem icon.
- 2 Steem to the player with the most kills at the end of the game.
Oi You boyz! You nearly dere.
Just bonk dat Weirdboy on 'is squishy head!
Den grab dat STEEM!
Last turn
Mainly just a super amount of moving and positioning... but the star of the turn was @pandorasbox who threw a frag grenade in the room with the Weirdboy and took out 2 of his minders. The Weirdboy was thrilled:

Quick Summary of rules relevant to this turn:
- Players can move 5 squares in a turn.
- Players can not occupy the same square as an enemy or another player.
- Players can also choose to shoot or charge into hand to hand combat. A charging player moves 6 squares and gets a +1 to wound.
- Players that charge an enemy already in hand to hand combat get a +1 to their roll for being an Additional Combatant.
- Players can flee from close combat, but must roll a 4+. On a roll of 1, 2 or 3 they suffer a wound to represent being hit when their back was turned.
- Players can find weapons or armour and pick them up by moving onto that square. Players can choose to pick up the new weapon or keep their current weapon.
- Players will always keep their knife.
- Players must stop on that square to pick up the new weapon... but can use it immediately.
- Enemies have 1 wound.
- Enemies will only move towards Players in their line of sight.
- There is no friendly fire.
Turns
- Players move first. Enemies move after all players have completed their actions.
- Players will have 24 hours to list their actions in the comments.
- Move turns are based on which players comment first.
- After 24 hours the enemies will take their actions
Weapons

| Shoota | No | 6 squares | 5+ | Two handed. Two shots |
| Big Shoota | No | 12 squares | 3+ | 4 shots. Move or shoot |
| Burna | Yes | 3 squares | Auto | Hits all enemies in range |
| Power Klaw | Yes | 1 square | 3+ | |
| Frag Grenade | No | 4-8 squares | 5+ | 9 square AOE |
Grenades must be thrown a minimum of 4 squares so they don't wound the player.
Protocol
- Players must comment their actions. @daclawboyz will either roll on their behalf and work out the results or they can use the @rollthedice bot.

Rules for the Weirdboy
The weirdboy is a psyker, which means he has psychic powers fuelled by the warp. The warp is filled with demons that curse and torment him. As such, he has to roll 2+ whenever he wants to use a power... on a roll of 1 his head explodes.
Psychic powers are used instead of fighting, so after the Weirdboy's movement phase:
| Power | Range | Roll to wound | Special rules |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smite | 12 squares | 5+ | |
| Headbanger | 3 squares | 3+ | Kills instantly |
| Warpath | 6 squares | 3+ | Doubles the attacks of an enemy Ork |
| Da Jump | 8 squares | NA | Can move any player or enemy anywhere within LoS |
UPDATE 1 : @happyme takes down Enemy Ork 21 with the Big Shoota!
UPDATE 2 : @pandorasbox takes the kill-count lead while she just keeps fraggin' around:
Weirdboy is all on his lonesome and is freakin' out
UPDATE 3 : After all the players moves... I'm not psychic, but I'd say @pbock is in trouble...
UPDATE 4 : @pbock survives shoota shots and a knife attack, but unfortunately our young friend @pandorasbox fell to a very surprised and panicked Weirdboy...
Please do continue to ask questions as you see fit...
KICK DEM BOYZ!!!

Thanks for playing!

I'm not sure I'll make it in time to be helpful but I'm going to go the long way around and move 5 east.
@rollthedice
Shake shake shake, you roll the 6-sided die.
You rolled a 4.
I can draw a line from me to Ork 21, so I'll shoot at it from where I am. @rollthedice.
Shake shake shake, you roll the 6-sided die.
You rolled a 1.
Good thing I get 4 shots! @rollthedice again. Gotta hit with ONE of the 4!
Shake shake shake, you roll the 6-sided die.
You rolled a 1.
Stuck on 1 are you @rollthedice?
Shake shake shake, you roll the 6-sided die.
You rolled a 5.
With a 3+ requirement, I would say that was a kill.
Bye bye Ork 21!
Nice work! I was worried there for a second...
5 squares east please
Shake shake shake, you roll the 6-sided die.
You rolled a 6.
To pick up the Steem, does a player need to land on that square or beside it?
No, land on that exact square to pick it up... same as a weapon.
Ok that frag grenade move from last time was totally awesome! I feel I have my
zombieork-slaying powers back!I could use more advice again guys!!
Option 1) Grab the burna and KILL the ork, leaving only the weirdboy. This puts me at the risk of being insta-killed on a roll of 3+ by the weirdboy. However on a roll of 1 or 2, I survive and win the game killing both the weirdboy as well as grabbing the steem
Option 2) Move back and keep my distance from the weirdboy so he can only use his 'minor' smite power instead of the insta-kill headbanger, and hope that I can take them out with grenades (several turns of lobbing them)
Option 3) Run across the hallway to the other corner, in such a way that the shoota ork can see me but the weirdboy cannot, similar to how I am currently not being seen by them. I could then throw grenades at the nearest ork, so I don't have to face both at once.
So far I am tempted to go with option 3, it seems the most safe. @daclawboyz can you confirm that if I move back to my old spot behind the other corner, that the weirdboy cannot see me but I do have line of sight to the nearest ork?
Sidenote: Though the rules with line of sight work in my favor, is it perhaps a bit weird that these orks will let themselves be abused by easy/clever positioning without going "Hurr.. what dat sound?! lez go look!"
actually I probably don't have time this turn to really think and communicate back and forth...
So, if option 3 is as viable as I think it is, let's just go and do that! I have several turns before reinforcements (competition, I call them!) show up! The only exception being that if @urbangladiator finds red shoes. Then I'm in trouble. I hear they go fasta.
Looks like you are making all the correct choices! Nice going! You just might take BOTH the Steem and the kill count wins!
Yes I know! And here I was thinking @urbangladiator was going to make off with both those..!
So if option 3 is viable and this is the road to take, this is my roll!
@rollthedice
If not, I will check one time tomorrow before next posting to see if it worked and if I need to tell you other moves or not!
Shake shake shake, you roll the 6-sided die.
You rolled a 5.
I think it's a legitimate move... he's the only one you can see from that spot:
Yeah, it's a bit weird... but it's really only because you keep killing orks during your turn... if you failed to wound then they'd be able to shoot at you from that same spot...
.. As for investigating... yeah, it's kind of a double-edge sword... if they leave their posts they might get clobbered by the Nobz and their attention spans are not great. If you were up against one of the other races however...
OH I am on such a roll!
I have to say I am enjoying this game a great deal! I love the more complex rules and all the puzzling that comes with it! :)
and no, not just because it looks like I may win!
I think this is a really interesting way of 'using' Steemit too for things beyond merely blogging! I really think if more people knew about this way of having fun on here, this type of game could take off
I'm actually quite surprised that none of the higher-ranking people are getting involved. It is all redfish and minnows playing these games! Do they not enjoy playing games or what? I just don't get it.
I replied to you and @daclawboyz at the same time in his comment just below, just fyi!
Hahaha, I wish I was a redfish!
Yeah, it is strange, but I think maybe the downturn of the crypto market has maybe discouraged the whales in actively participating in the community they built... I mean, it must be hard to see your wallet shrink on the daily... or maybe they're too busy, I just don't know. I've definitely tried to get the word out... but that's okay.. we'll keep playing and fine-tuning and when everyone comes back because crypto is hot again, we'll be the rockstars.
I'm glad you're enjoying it PB, I'm certainly having a lot of fun running it. It's tricky trying to balance out the rules so that they provide plenty of options and decision-making, but without being tedious or too hard. Seems to be at least okayish so far.
With just 6.2 SP, daclawboyz would be considered a redfish.
Way to go with being positive! It is a fun game and should have a lot more people interested in it. I suppose it is because (like my own game) it is not scale-able to accept thousands of players at once, the coders and techies are not interested in it and as such the big fish are not either. I don't care. I'm doing it for fun and my little group is enjoying it and earning Steem in the process. It is a small gaming community within the larger gaming community within the greater Steem community.
Sure, it is always nice to have the support of a whale or 2 to help us little fishies grow faster. Or have a techie figure out how to automate the process and how to make it scale up. What a blast the gaming community could have if games such as this could be automated and scaled up with multiple versions running at the same time!
Haha, I thought I was below redfish at plankton level... that's what Busy.org clarifies me as..
I think we'll slowly chip away at the general Steem userbase... at the moment people are really excited about articles and videos and memes... but eventually people will look for something more interactive, and we'll be right there waiting for them. I'd argue that all those farming games on Facebook really helped it explode... hopefully we've positioned ourselves just right...
Seems everyone has their own ranking system. I like the term PLANKTON rather than REDFISH, because it more accurately displays the size difference between a Plankton and a Minnow. As far as I know, Plankton and Redfish are the terms used for the LOWEST ranks of Steemians.
I hope you are correct and that these games will soon be the rage here. There was so much hype about steempunk and lots of money flying around because of it. I got involved out of curiosity and am still playing it, but haven't seen a treasure chest is weeks! The data panel doesn't seem to update properly and I'm not being attacked very much any more. The attacker seems to be the victor most of the time and I pointed that out, but it is still the same. It almost seems like development has stopped on it. I'm not sure what is going on there, but I can say that I find your game and my game more enticing and exciting. It is cool that a game was developed for the blockchain, but it lacks something that our games seem to have. Keep up the good work!
You guys can be plankton and redfish, I feel more like a sea horse!!!!!
Also Steempunknet is still being developed. They are soon implementing a housing system, they recently posted about it. Programming takes a lot of time tho, and graphics too
Yes, I know about the housing system. And I'm learning about the time it takes to write GOOD code. Someone close to me is developing video games and it is taking FOREVER to get the first game out the door.
I've always had a fascination for seahorses. Love the colouration on the one you posted!
That's super cute! You are a Steemit Seahorse!
Um... speaking of things that are not cute... you're not going to like the enemy ork moves in this game...
Replying to you both here at the same time: Yeah I totally agree it's fishy (pun intended) that no whales or even dolphins seem interested. In many cases I think a lot of big earners don't really care about engaging with others that much.. You don't see many actual discussions beyond one reply. It takes a bit of time to play these games, especially @daclawboyz's one. It's something you really have to do because of the fun and not of the earnings and I guess most people are in it precisely in reverse of that.
I'm actually having the most fun of all on these games, instead!I would play this even if it was on a non-paying platform like Steemit!
But it could also be that whales are simply not seeing these games. But meh.. who cares, I learned long ago to not bother with whales on Steemit and just do my own things!
That reminds me! On @happyme's game I used to upvote all the players in the early days, 'cause those people were in it for the fun too and put some effort in it, but then my voting power got drained and too many players joined so I had to stop. But seeing as this game of @daclawboyz only has a few players, and I think each and every one of them are cool people who take it somewhat seriously and have fun at the same time.. so I am going back to that habit and restarting this upvote-all-players thing. As long as we keep the numbers down a bit, and I may adjust voting power sometimes to keep my voting power up.
Speaking of vote power, I used to vote all participants at 75% but had to cut back to 70% due to the numbers. I still need some votes for my contest participants, but they only get 50% power and just 1 vote per week rather than daily. I'm managing to keep my VP at 80% or higher, but it leaves me no votes for curating articles. I'm itching to get my SP high enough that a 50% vote would be big enough that I can spread some more love around. It will come one day!
