The Failing Canadian Medical System / My Journey Through It / We Need New Blood - D00k13 Digest #110
What up my Steemians, welcome to the @D00k13 Digest, running a little behind schedule as always thus this is a off the top of my head topic about the failing Canadian medical system. I have recently had to put myself through this system and have come up with some alarming conclusions which in this video I break my thoughts as to why there is an ongoing problem. It all comes down to a lack of trust in the physician thus resulting in a lack of new blood in the field only exaggerating the problem. We then have the problem exaggerated by the lack of physicians in the field, there isn't enough in my area to fill the hours of the clinics nevermind getting a regular GP to take you on as a patient.
Why do we have a lack of trust? I think that can be linked to the evolution of the medical practice. Back in the day the person prescribing the treatment plan was also the person to provide the treatment. Now we find situations where the phamasict knows more about the treatments then the physician prescribing them leaving situations where like myself having an allergic reaction needing to take benadryl only to have a further reaction to the benadryl. The clinic physician had no idea as to why this would happen yet the pharmacist said it is a commonly known problem and not to worry but in future I should take myself into the hospital to get a allergy medication that will not have that same reaction.
We need new blood in the field, there is always a possibility to change the system from the inside!

Medical system used to be based around physicians, nowadays seems the attention is focused on consultants who are trying to maximize profits. Maybe this is why there is less physicians available, less people going to school to become physicians.

Yeah that’s a very valid point, it does always seem about the money. Treatments don’t include a solution to the problem typically they only address the symptoms.
