UN Report on Human Rights in Venezuela Faulty by Design

But even more importantly we share the Venezuelan government legitimate concern that the UNHCHR report on human rights in Venezuela is faulty from design with a questionable methodology where 82% of the interviews used by the UNHCHR were conducted with people located outside Venezuela. Was Bachelet’s trip to Venezuela necessary?
“Wars Come About As a Result of Lies.”

“When we understand that wars come about as a result of lies peddled to the British public and the American public and the publics all over Europe and other countries then who are the war criminals? It is not just leaders, it is not just soldiers, it is journalists; journalists are war criminals. And while one might think that that should lead us to a state of despair, that the reality that is constructed around us is constructed by liars, is constructed by people who are close to those that they are meant to be policing, it should lead us also to an optimistic understanding because if wars can be started by lies, truth can be started, peace can be started by truth.”
– Julian Assange (Oct. 8, 2011)
A Secret Meeting to Plot War?

After the meeting, Jewish Insider provided a complete list of the participants and also a diagram of how they were positioned in the Capitol Hill conference room. The senators were placed on one side of a rectangle with the Jewish leaders in front of them filling the seats on the other three sides. Who exactly provided the agenda that Klobuchar was presumably following is not known, but one suspects that it may have been a joint effort by Schumer and several of the more prominent Jewish organization participants.
The age of digital geopolitics - Europe may well become the scene of a technological proxy war between the US and China

For the EU, as for Europe as a whole, there’s the danger of being crushed between the two superpowers. European trade, economy, and production chains are inextricably connected to both Chinese and US technologies. Unlike the US, however, Europe already has Huawei technology installed in its 4G mobile networks. In the future, this will most likely also be the case for the expansion of the 5G network.
Austria's smoking gun: Strache, “Ibiza-Gate”, and “Saint” Sebastian

Even such huge scandals which lead to the dissolution of a government, resignation of a Vice-Chancellor and the disclosure of massive corruption, might conclude with more of the same.
Apple aims privacy billboard at Google’s controversial smart-city

Another investigation earlier this year – this one by TechCrunch – found that some apps were using so-called session replay technology: a type of analytics software that records the screen when an app is open. Apple told developers to knock it off, TechCrunch later reported, noting that apps using the technology included ones built by some big names.
Google defends eavesdropping on smart speaker recordings

What's more, this technology looks set to be an asset for organisations such as the NHS, which recently announced a service with Amazon's Alexa where users can ask medical questions rather than phone their GP. Not all saw this as a good idea with privacy campaigners highlighting the data protection risks and the Labour MP Tom Watson calling it "the beginning of Mission Creep."
Hey, Google, why are your contractors listening to me?

The audio clips have included people’s bedroom sound symphonies, their kids’ or grandkids’ voices, payment information from transactions, medical information they divulge when searching on their ailments, and far more.
Facial recognition surveillance must be banned, says Fight for the Future

Fight for the Future charges Silicon Valley lobbyists with “disingenuously calling for light ‘regulation’” of facial recognition so they can continue to profit from the rapid spread of this “surveillance dragnet,” thereby ducking the real debate: namely, should this technology even exist?
“Mozilla aren’t villains after all” – ISPs back down after public outcry

Surely, I thought, Mozilla should be in there with the 2019 Internet Heros nominees, which included Sir Tim Berners Lee, praised for his effort to “to rebuild trust and protect the open and free nature of the internet”?

Why is ASMAA against lithium mining in Portugal

During the 2017 fires in the centre of Portugal, some ASMAA representatives, including me, visited hundreds of affected locations. We were in Pedrogão, Arganil, Oliveira do Hospital, Seia, etc.. We chatted to the locals, fire fighters and local government leaders. We found ourselves not only emotionally devastated by the extension of the destruction but also by the information given to us that hundreds of fires broke-up simultaneously across extensive areas. Leading us to reach the conclusion that the fires had to be part of a well-planned and executed economic or even politically driven strategy.

Lechner’s success lies in how 20 of Berlin’s coffee shops use his products along with 150 odd vendors throughout Europe. The future for the company lies in Lechner’s vision of producing not just cups but to extend into furniture and lifestyle product production. And to think, it’s all from the remains of our coffee!

In an Instagram post, Jaden announced the launch of his pop up vegan food truck named ‘I Love You Restaurant’ in Skid Row, one of the most impoverished regions in Los Angeles. In the same Instagram post dated 7th July, he mentions how this would kickstart many of his other programs and ventures. The pop-up seems to be a kind of soup kitchen on wheels, specifically focusing on providing healthy and sustainable food.

In the bust last month, US Customs and Border Patrol agents confiscated nearly 40,000 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $1.3 billion, making it the largest single cocaine bust in US history.
The illegal cargo was being transported by a ship called the MSC Gayane, which is operated by Mediterranean Shipping Co. and owned by JP Morgan. Last week, Customs officials announced that they would be seizing the ship after it sat in the port for nearly a month after the raid.
