Travel memories... Alcatraz island San Francisco USA

In 2013 we were in San Francisco, and visited Alcatraz. Because I have a lot of picture about this trip, I decided to break the story into multiple parts. Now the first one is about this prison island, which closed in 1963. It was the most fearful prison in the US. Only a few who escaped from there, but they never found, so no one exactly knows are they survived the escape or lost in the sea. The waves are cold and strong, so not easy to swim there, especially because a lots of sharks live there.

Easy to go to the island, nearly every half hour a ship goes to the island and back. As I remember the travel operates until 7 pm.

In the building you can use an audio tour, which tell stories about the prison.

After the movie Rock it was interesting to see the prison parts, which appeared in the movie

The travel itself is also amazing with the cruise

Nature is also nice on this island

I much more enjoyed the tour outside, than inside. But I think this is normal at a prison :)

This was the most symbolic picture which I taken. Look up, and see a bird which fly free.

Today mostly birds living on the island. There are many place which closed from the visitors, to make calm environment for the bird families who lives there.
