Daily Nature Fix: Sunset at the Sea Stacks - pt 2. (Original Photos)

Hi gang. While the weekend winds down, I decided to post something calming to quell that Monday angst. It was a crazy purple-y sunset from last winter in Iceland.

This was at the popular black sand beach called Reynisfjara, in the south of the country. We planned on getting there a lot earlier an the day, but were running behind... and running out of sun light. Keep in mind, during winter in Iceland, there's only around 4 hours of sun, or less. BUT the sunsets and sunrise seem to last a LONG time. Like almost 2 hours. On that particular evening, the setting sun made for a cool purple and pink atmosphere. Kylene put it best when she described it as "dreamy".

These sea stacks are known as Reynisdrangar. These suckers are around 200 feet tall! I got some insider information about them from the locals, too. Turns out, these are/were trolls. Story has it, they were pulling a boat ashore when the sun came up and turned them all to stone.

That last photo was taken from the town of Vik, which is on the opposite of Reynisdrangar. Id say this view is the most iconic of the sea stacks. And in that whole area in general.
