Daily Nature Fix: Lumpy, Bumpy Moss! (Original Photos)
Good evening nature buffs. Tonight's Daily Nature Fix is about a patch of lawn that caught my attention while in Northern Ireland. It was found pretty much cliff-side at Downpatrick Head and was much different in appearance than any other grassy areas we saw on the trip.
Now being that I'm not a botanist, I can only guess that this may be Irish moss. I don't know, maybe one of you viewers would have a better idea of what we're looking at here? Whatever it was, it was awesome! It was covering an area about the size of a half-acre. It felt like you were walking around on big spongy pillows.
Here's Kylene standing among these earthy cushions with the iconic sea stack in the background. If these are, indeed, Irish moss... I kind of wish we would have seen them in summer as they keep colorful little flowers all around them in the warmer times of the year. I'd love to culture some of this stuff and plant it around some of the wooded areas on our property.
