WE ARE GROOT! [Original Art + Blog]

Currently I'm in a really great groove chipping away at Chapter Sixteen of my Yūgen project...
Chapter Sixteen is all about philosophy and ancient history, through my warped reflection of reality... Thus, superheroes... And furthermore thus my really great groove, as my love for art began through drawing pokémon and superheroes... Mmmhmm, back to basics! :D

Anyways, I made a little video of Groot's creation... so please check it out!

Lending a little insight as to how my mind works through these Yūgen pieces... I'll explain the superheroes and their links. Firstly, I've included superheroes because of the "hero's journey" philosophy and its relation to my personal ethics, now and throughout my childhood. I also find it particularly interesting that we used to tell stories about gods and spirits which helped guide our morality, and in these modern times of 'science and atheism', we have superheroes guiding us...

I then expanded these thoughts through Batman vs Superman, as the two base ideologies of heroism, individualism vs collectivism. Wisecrack have a brilliant video explaining this, which was inspired by the movie, which is also definitely what I'm linking through these two particular images. The next four hero's links' are a bit of a stretch that I'll briefly explain...

Firstly we have Wonder Woman, an Amazonian who fights with the power of love... empowered by this love, her whip finds truth, her shield protects and her sword strikes fair.
Then there's Thor, the Norse God of thunder, empowered by destiny, wielding Mjolnir, the hammer; A tool for building.
Then Aquaman, the Atlantean King of the sea... empowered by the water, in communications with animals and wielding a trident of leadership...
Finally we find ourselves back at Groot... A sentient god-like tree from Planet X (Nibiru) who's power comes from nature, connecting through all, sporing seeds of life all across the galaxy... Communicating in ways far beyond words...

There are other links and pop-culture references as to the elements of their costumes, but I've covered the main links here, and hopefully though that you can see why I've included these heroes on a piece all about Philosophy and Ancient history...

Anyways, I'm really on a roll with this piece atm, plus I'm better with colours than words... so I'm off back to work!
