Hello Steemit!

I am just getting oriented here and in a short time I have so many fun ideas of how I might want to participate. My introduction came via working with #solarcoin, posting some articles about how to participate in our global solar incentive. But I quickly realized there are many other areas I want to explore.

One of my early posts got some great attention and it could use a couple votes at the tail end:

I have zero interest in gaming this, and plan to just do my best to post good content and engage in meaningful conversation. Whatever that leads to is fine, and I’m guessing will be fun and educational.

One project I am plotting out is asking my college students to post some of their work for peer review. I teach communication courses, so this would also allow for some timely dialogue about mediated communication, social networking, etc. if anyone has advice on using steemit as a classroom tool please let me know. I figure if students are already posting their work to the course page for peer review, why not let them upvote each other and earn rewards. We shall see.

I am also an urban homesteader of sorts. My family grows fruit and veggies, we keep chickens, and I like to do things like brew beer with my homegrown hops. So I’m sure I will post some things along that line.

Here’s one of my girls, Jo-jo. She needed some tlc after some intra-coop conflict with her sisters so she was spending some time in the house.

And this is my son with the biggest hop I have ever seen.

I also love the outdoors and do a lot of hiking and mountain biking with my wife and kids. Here we all are at the Grand Canyon last summer.

I’m excited about this medium, so please follow if you’re likeminded about the subjects I’ve mentioned or the idea that steemit can be about quality first.
