153 years ago a American Civil War Battle happened on this very day!

153 years ago on this day, July 20 1864 to be exact a civil war battle happened. Near Atlanta, Georgia Confederate troops unsuccessful attacked Union troops led by General William T. Sherman. This was Hood's first battle as head of the Tennessee Army(Confederates). He planned to strike Cumberland Army that was commanded by General George Thomas. The plan was to hit them while they were crossing Peachtree Creek.

Lets just say the plan didn't go they way he wanted. Miscommunication and bad coordination played a role on why it didn't go well. After 3 hours Hood ordered a halt to the advance. On the Union side 1,750 casualties and around 2,500 casualties for the Confederate side. The union had won this battle. That was a fun fact for you on what happened on this day so many years ago.
