4 Basic Components of Solar Energy Generators

I recently built a small scale solar generator, and I was suprised to find out that the technology is really simple. I have begun to blog some of the basics and parts on my website as well.  This post will just be a summary of the major components and you can refer to my site for more details if you are interested.  I will be adding a more in depth post about each component and will link them once completed

                                                               

There are only 4 Major Components of a Solar system.

1. Solar Panel: Converts solar energy into DC electrical energy. 
2. Battery Bank: Stores excess energy for later use. Your batteries can power USB or Car Outlets. Lead acid batteries are the most economical for small scale systems, but they are extremely heavy. 
3. Charge Controller: Turns your solar panels output to a stable and safe voltage to charge your battery bank safely. It also prevents overcharge.
4. DC to AC Inverter: Converts your DC battery voltage to AC current which allows you to use standard 120V wall outlets.

I believe that it is critical that we as individuals move away from a centralized power grid and start producing our own clean energy at home. Solar energy is a simple and easily achievable step in that direction. Take the power back from the oil cartels.
