Just a quick walk through our house reveals an AMAZING kid art discovery....

Hello Steemit Friends... I wanted to share a bit of what it is like inside a house filled with 5 artists (not including me). I teach them all music and will be showing quite a lot of that soon, but I certainly can't take credit for the amazing art that covers the walls and ceilings, doors and floors of our house. It is absolutely everywhere and it is beautiful and getting better as our 4 girls grow and develop.

I believe it all started with Papa Jack, my wife's father who made a career as a commercial artist but in his heart was a free spirit, a true painter, drawer, sculptor of all things beautiful and profound. Hidden treasures of his amazing body of work have surfaced since he passed. Here is a sketch my wife Jennifer did of her Dad "Papa"

One of my favorites that we have is this Orchard painting from 1961 (his work was split between his seven children and 3 siblings - so sadly we only have some of it

His talent was passed down to my wife, who treasured her time spent with her Dad painting, sketching or whatever they were in the mood for. Jennifer is a graduate of the Acadamy of Art in San Francisco, class of 1993 and makes her living now as an Art teacher. When she really cuts loose... the medium she generally chooses is quick charcoal drawings/sketches of nude models. She is an incredible and natural talent. Art comes easy to her, it just happens. This one of her many charcoal sketches is in our upstairs hallway..

The talent has made its way down the ladder, first to Courtney, our oldest. 2015 Student of the year at Mar Vista Elementary, and very recently awarded the 2017 Artist of the year at Aptos Jr High. Also starred in the Cabrillo Stage Musical "Oliver" where she was amazing... and what pressure she handled with grace for a 12 year old girl

This one is probably 3-5 years old, there are much better ones hiding somewhere, I just don't know where at the moment and she is at a sleepover

Oh.... if she would allow me inside her sketch book you would not believe what she is into now. She is an amazing talent at a very young age. I will try to post more of her good stuff as I find it.

Then comes Alex

our 12 year old - believe it or not ALSO awarded "Student of the Year" at Mar Vista Elementary (we are 2 for 2 so far!) - and it was unanimous the teachers told me, she really is an amazing kid 100% heart, pure empathy, love and also quite an artist as well. Besides being an amazing person aged 12 going on 30, she is close friends with several adult teachers some special needs children and singlehandedly took a 1st grader under her wing after the tragic death of her big sister Giselle from Meningitis, who was a classmate of Alex's, and lifted up her spirit and helped get her through an extremely difficult year to say the least. Alex is special... a kid "whisperer" a who sees between the lines and is not satisfied with ordinary affairs. I couldn't be more proud of her. She recently raised $200 on her own for Jacob's Heart, a program that helps families of children who have Cancer So here is some of her art I discovered tonight

Then come the little ones: Josie 9 and Charlotte (Charlie) just turned 6

And finally here is a bunch of Art I discover pasted all over the place in our house - and this is just some of it. There is so much more...

So thank you for taking the time to look at this post, I sure had fun putting it together. This is just the tip of the iceberg. There is SO much Art and love happening at this house.
