Who are all these random 15 SP downvoters?

in #steem5 years ago

Every post I make, I get 1 or 2 people who downvote me. Are they someone's alt accounts? A trail? A blacklist? Some of them have a bit of random activity, names and pictures. Others simply seem to follow a pattern of anonymity. All in all, they are irrelevant, their votes are worth nothing, 0.001 at most, but what is the point of it all?

Who are these people? Why are they disliking me, the randomest non-political person on Steem? Is there some kind of bulk downvote conspiracy to lower literally everyone's rewards by cents and increase someone's reward pool value?

Do you have SBI shares attached to your account? A lot of them are downvoting posts that get upvotes from SBI.

I do, like 1 or 2 shares someone gave me, but I don't remember ever getting any SBI upvotes. Why are they downvoting people who get SBI?

If it is the same people, they feel it is like buying votes. The sad thing is the people they are really hurting are the smaller accounts that were gifted them and don't even realize it. They downvote me too, but they are so small it doesn't really impact my rewards.

Same. The SBI I get is like 0.03, though, so if I get two 0.001 downvotes, 8% of that SBI is removed. :P But it amounts to absolutely nothing in comparison to my total votes.

Thanks for your input and your clarification. I think I'll make a script to trace all of these accounts and make a list with them.

No problem. I could be totally wrong, but I know that is what the dust downvotes I have been getting is from.

They're nobody. I have myself pretty much the same pack on my tail, but ignore them. Some sick mind has created them I guess.

Well, someone must have coded the bot. I myself have the knowledge to do it but find no use to creating hundreds of random Steemit-delegated accounts to downvote random people. Perhaps we should put them all in a blacklist and throw it to Steemit so that the delegation can be removed due to abuse.

That would be a good idea. Do you know how?

Make a series of queries to a witness node.

  1. Get a list of all votes made by SBI bots for a few months. It will take a while because they're a lot.
  2. Get a list of all the votes in all the posts where SBI bots have posted. It will take an even longer while.
  3. From that list of votes per post, grab all the essential information: SBI vote size, author name, list of downvote dates, percentages and maybe vote size (SP / weight etc.).
  4. There we can request any information from these downvoters, such as SP, vote size, how many posts do they downvote outside of the SBI list, etc.

These requests are actually pretty simple with steem-js or dsteem. It does take a little while to research what information is necessary and the format with which the blockchain sends information, etc., so even though it's extremely simple conceptually, it could take a few (4-5ish) hours to code.

Perhaps a simplified version without vote weights is a good start?

I get them even on posts I am not being upvoted by SBI. Not all are related to SBI. They appeared after HF22.

I've been talking with a friend about maybe building a visualisation of Steem's vote network, see where things go and make some graphs. It's hard, though, and we've got a lot of stuff to do already. But it would be fun to have a few lists of the troublemakers and the hidden vote markets.

I wouldn't bother with them. They're simply nobody for this paltform and will annoy you if you give them too much attention. I have almost daily such downvotes and learned to live with them.

I think they are just trolling with non-meaningful downvotes.

In a way I think it is good, so that people get used to having a downvote once in a while and accept both upvotes and downvotes are part of the system.

It's not the little guys that bother me, it is more the large trails who create damage in my opinion.

Could you point me to a sample of those? I haven't seen them so far.

I haven't seen them lately, but OCDB (I hope I got those letters in the right order) and Cureangle were doing huge downvote trails for $35 ish dollars for a while. They were focusing on what they deemed as "Circle Jerkers", but in many cases they were just people who had built a network and a following.

Now, I don't mind that those people got downvoted, what I did mind is by how much and the attitude and name calling that went along with it. Also, in some cases I thought it was too harsh.

The big one is this mk guy who's on an agenda against SBI. His "reasonable" demands were the complete and final dismantling of the program. Now he's tossing bigger downvotes on the people who gift SBI to others. If there were ever a person who is damaging the Steem community, it's him.

What's his main account name?

It's, like, mmmmkkkk and then a bunch of numbers. I don't remember exactly, and I don't want to tag him here, lest you incur his 100k SP wrath.

Hi @cryptosharon

Those negative votes are obviously very annoying, however, the ones that are most affected are the small accounts, I have also received those negative votes. In principle, I looked for the explanation until I came across a post where there was a war against SBI. There I understood everything that happened.

Yours.

Dear @cryptosharon

Finally I'm having some time to relax and read few publications I bookmarked earlier on. Past few days have been quite insanely busy.

I must admit that I wasn't aware about such an issue, as being downvoted by small accounts. Do you really bother about them?

upvote on the way. catch :)
Yours, Piotr
