Tesla builds a new battery system of 20 MW, but falls behind car deliveries

Only a month has passed since Tesla built the world's largest battery in less than 100 days, and now there are new plans at the horizon. Tesla will keep on working together with the Neoen wind farm to create a Powerpack battery system in Australia.

The world's largest battery system was developed by Tesla and has already been successfully tested. The company will still have a collaboration to build a new system in Southeast Australia. The Australian media reported that Tesla has successfully won the contract to build a 20-megawatt battery system to support the 204 MW wind farm at Bulgana Green Power Hub.

While it is much smaller than the project in southern Australia, this is yet another great step for the company from which both sides will benefit. Franck Woitiez, general manager Neon, declares that the performance of the world's largest battery is remarkable. The Bulgana battery will primarily provide energy for nearby farms, but not only.
The team has a much lighter calendar than the South Australian project that Musk wanted in just 100 days. The new Victorian battery is planned to be ready in about 18 months.

Tesla's involvement in the South Australian energy sector started after the state experienced large-scale energy failures due to severe weather in the summer of 2016. Tesla praised that it could address South Australian energy issues in 100 days or the solution would be free of charge. After receiving 91 proposals from energy providers around the world, the Southern Australian Government has accepted the Tesla proposal. The 100 MW / 129 MWh Powerpack system was ready on December 1, 2017. While Tesla has managed to maintain its promise, we can not say the same thing about producing their own car.

The company is increasingly delaying production on the Tesla 3 model. These delays in production have an impact on consumers. While Tesla is still the most important US electric vehicle seller, competition is not sleeping and it moving closer and closer each day.

Tesla reported sales of 101,312 vehicles in 2017, a 33% increase over 2016. But Chevrolet Bolt EV is constantly closing on the market. Chevrolet reported that it sold 23,297 cars in 2017. Although this number did not reach the company's target of 30,000 deliveries for last year, the figures are still good for a car that was launched nationwide in August alone.
