Dear Diary: It Is My Brother's Birthday Today
It is my brother's birthday today and I am just having second thoughts of greeting him, it is because we value the birthday of our spirit than that of our bodies (the baptism day). In the bible we could not see Christians celebrating their birthdays because the ultimate celebration will be when we rise again from the dead and reign with Christ in a thousand years and then into paradise.
Anyway in my family we have not celebrated our birthdays with my siblings they way other families or kids celebrated theirs in the past, it is just now that we can afford to spend some money for little gathering solely for the family members.
More often my mother would prepare something like stir-fried noodles which is a customary way of celebrating one's birthday because it is believed that it could "prolong" life because of the long strands of the noodles, it is a Chinese influence of belief.
