I Might Get Extra Dialysis Session Allocation From My Health Insurance This Or The Next Year
My dialysis allocation from my government health insurance is only 90 sessions per year so I have to go for about two times only per week in order for me to extend its use because after it is all used up I have to cough-up cash in a few months in order for me to continue with my treatments.
The cost of the treatments, the cost of the dialyzer, and the extra bills that they are charging the patients cannot be sustained of almost all dialysis patients so most go for a six treatments, some even last for seven grueling days because they couldn't afford it, it is just so expensive.
I had known patients that stopped going simply because they have no more money. They would come back to get the extra fluid build-up from their bellies then after that of course you will never hear from them again as they already died slowly.
It is so terrifying that I never went into conversations with such subject. When I was just starting my dialysis I have no health insurance to use, my parents did not have any and my siblings are just studying at that time too. So I go for only a six dialysis per month which is a very hard thing for me to ever endure.
Then I realized that I just am missing-out on dialysis allocations from my government health insurance. So I paid the whole year premium and after a while I was able to uuse it for my needed dialysis sessions.
At first they only give 70 sessions or so but with an 6 times injection of Erythropeitin (EPO) which is a very expensive hormone for our bodies to make its own blood.
Then the government decided to make a compromise adjustment of taking-off EPO but would allocate 90 dialysis sessions instead of around 70 only. It came better for me because I do not need EPO injections anymore as my hemoglobin levels is always up and normal.
Now as with this new law that had passed from the house of the representatives and maybe to the Senate soon for another hearing and approval until it lands on the president's desk for finally making it into a law I will finally possibly get more dialysis treatments per year.
I am also hoping for maybe covering us patients with EPO injections as well because it is important for most patients to get because most or all of them gets so anemic that it makes them sick and unproductive.
Now I really feel good about how the government is doing its job for the betterment of its citizens. We are just blessed by a true leader that loves his countrymen.
I am excited to see how it goes but I am not hoping so much. What I like is that now we are no longer worrying about where to get some money to patch-up for my dialysis needs at the end of the year where my sessions are all used-up and this good news is just what I needed taking effect when my mother will not get forced anymore to file financial assistance for my sake.
