Dear Diary: I Have The Most Terrible Medical Dilemma There Is

My mother just returned home now from my doctor about her submitting the results of my Ionized calcium test along with my phosphorus. My doctor is also my mother's doctor and it is both our consultation schedule for today. I am no longer required to go there physically so my mother was the one which is always going.

And so I told mother for my doctor to write me a prescription of an active form of Vitamin D which is Calcitriol. My doctor told my mother that the vitamin D in my Calcium supplement is good enough and that I don't need those Calcitriol anymore. I will just let that off for a while now since I have a good Calcium level anyway in my system.

My doctor also said that I have to continue to take my parathyroid medicine because it will help me about the enlargement of my facial bone. This Leontiasis of mine is very hideous, it is giving me me misery and hard time in many aspects of my life so I have to really manage it or face the ugly and painful consequences.

Now the issue is that Cinacalcet (my parathyroid medicine) makes me feel ill with nausea and digestive problems as well as giving me a poor appetite. But it does alleviate my body pains and slows down the progression of my facial deformity. My facial deformity is not just about appearance issue but a risk of making me blind and deaf when the overgrowth of bones would start to pinch my optic nerves and to the inner ear bones and nerves as well.

So that is my one "hundred million dollar dilemma" and choosing is not an option because either option is a hell on earth for me. If I were to stop taking my medicine then that complications above plus pain recurrence is what I will face, so it is either that or suffer the side-effects that I was always complaining about.

It is just saddening, frightening, and worrying about. But I have to be as brave as I can so that my condition will not deteriorate. It is actually deteriorating me wherever I would place myself. I just hope God will give me some strength for me to carry this mental and physical as well as financial burden.

Saludos @cryptopie. Mucho animo y es tu decision elegir si sigues tomando ó no el medicamento Paratiroideo depende de ti

Perhaps they can find some medication to help with the horrible nausea?

Yes but it is not just like the nausea, it is also the lost of appetite, lose bowel and stomach upset, and the bitter aftertaste that lingers. @hezziebees

Chin up, feet forward and this too will pass! You are an inspiration to us all!

Yes thank you @stillwater but I really want to cry because of these things.
