People are not prepared for decentralization
Bitcoin and its blockchain technology is definitely a revolutionary invention. No doubt. Remember what Andreas Antonopoulos said ; "Bitcoin is not about banking the unbanked, it's about debanking all of us !" Great !
Bitcoin is this famous peer-to-peer decentralized payment network that allows anyone with a smartphone to use his own digital cash without his banker's permission. Bitcoin gives back to the people the ownership of their money and also their freedom. With a Btc wallet installed on his phone, everyone can now become his own banker !
Bitcoin meaning no third party to inslave you, Bankers will have to fight for survival !
Hey wait a minute ! Is the world really ready for such an incredible change ! I mean, Is the guy or the girl living next door ready to become his(her) own banker ? Are people able to assume a so big responsability without beeing helped by a third party ? Andreas Antonopoulos warned us about the necessity of keeping safe our bitcoin wallet backups : "Your keys, your bitcoins, Not your keys, Not your bitcoins !" The message is clear :
So how many coins will be lost forever ? By the way, how many coins have already been lost because of negligence in the very begining history of bitcoin ? They say about 3 million coins ...
It means all the people who loose their hardware wallet or smartphone and forgot to save correctly their backup will loose their bitcoins forever ! And when someone holding bitcoins dies, most of the time no one will be able to know where he left his 24 bip39 words paper or wallet backup ! What about blind people, illiterate people, elderly people ... We kneed a reliable third party to keep safe ownership and privacy for fragile group of citizens. But that makes no sense ! A so perfect decentralized censorship-resistant system being centralized again ?
Unfortunately complete decentralization with no third party compensation at all is risky for mainstream adoption of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a replacement of the banking services.
Am I ready to become my own banker ? Not so sure ....
