What is FOMO?
“Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful.”
– Warren Buffett
Fear of Missing Out - FOMO
- FOMO is an emotion of anxiety an investor might feel when they see a certain stock rising.
- It often occurs when a news article comes out or there is a lot of chatter on social media.
- FOMO will cause an investor to purchase based on emotion, rather than logic.
- It can be artificially created by the manipulation of news and social media to pump the price of a stock.
Tips to Avoid emotional investing
- Don't purchase something without doing proper research.
- Research should be in-depth, not a quick google search or a recommendation from someone
- Be careful about what you read. News and social media can be heavily manipulated.
- Think long-term, not short-term.
