Premier League Football: Round Up Of The Weekend Games.

• Manchester City Vs Liverpool (5 – 0)
When Manchester City are in full flight you can expect to see these sort of results, the threatened it at the beginning of last season before they went sideways after the champions league game against Celtic but I digress, Manchester City were purring in this game and could have score more goals, fair enough Liverpool had Mane sent off in the 37th minute but Manchester City were already a goal up by then, would Liverpool have suffered the pasting they had had they had 11 men on the pitch? Ifs buts and maybes, it is what it is.
Side note: I noticed that the press have not gone after Jurgen Klopp in the same way they went after Arsene Wenger after Arsenal 4 - 0 lost to Liverpool last week, double standards?

• Arsenal Vs Bournemouth (3 – 0)
Another purring classy performance by the Gooners. I am no Arsenal fan, I support Newcastle United but watching Arsenal in full flight is a thing of beauty, they preened and peacocked as they made Bournemouth bend the knee as they put them to the sword.

Side note: Wenger out? Careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

• Brighton & Hove Albion Vs West Bromwich Albion (3 – 1)
Massive Chris Houghton fan and glad to see him doing well, he used to manage my club (Newcastle) and he was badly treated after a successful tenure at the club, Chris is an excellent manager and has always performed at every club he has been to, I wonder why he has not been picked up by one of the bigger clubs and I cannot wait for this to happen for him. He brought Brighton into the premiership for the first time in the club’s history and every achievement that Brighton attains will be a first.

Side note: all hail Chris Houghton! we want Chrissy for our leader! – Well done Chris there will always be a place for you at the Newcastle table.

• Everton Vs Tottenham Hotspur (0 – 3)
Spurs play a sort of feel the pain football that goes straight for the jugular, I am not a massive Spurs fan but you have to credit them with what they have been doing over the last three seasons or so. They are now firmly established as a top four side and from the games they’ve played so far this season it looks as though they are set to carry on from where they left off last season, will the fact that they did not bring in too many new players during the summer transfer impact on their tilt towards the title? Only time will tell

Side note: how will moving to Wembley stadium temporarily whilst they build their new stadium impact of Spur’s season?

• Leicester City Vs Chelsea (1 – 2)
After losing their first game of the season the engine is slowly starting to grind at Chelsea, surprising that they are flying under the radar at the moment seeing as they are they are the champions but all the focus seems to be on the Manchester teams at the moment, cometh the hour though you can sure that Chelsea will be there or thereabouts, can they win the title back to back? I wouldn’t put my money on that

Side Note: how do you solve a problem like Diego Costa?

• Southampton Vs Watford ( 0 – 2)
Game for the purist between two not so glamorous clubs, the highlights were the goals which were well taken, Watford though are 4th in the league as of today which should delight their fans, not one to rush home to watch unless you are a fan of either club.

Side note: is the fact that Southampton have been selling their best players for the last 10 seasons or so finally coming home to roost?

• Stoke City Vs Manchester United (2 – 2)
The bubble finally busts for Manchester United as Stoke City put an end to their 100% start to the season. One in the eye for Jose Mourinho from Mark Hughes yet again, bit sad to see Jose refusing to shake hands with Mark Hughes after the game, you do not have a divine right to win every game and you should really shake hands after every game win lose or draw. One of the plus points was how well Pogba played, I enjoy watching Pogba, I do not see how Lukaku is worth £75 million though, and for all that money for me Rashford is better.

Side note: how would Man U respond to this halt in their momentum, if the draw or lose their next game the season might well prove to be a hard slug for them.
