In its current form, the Ponder app is an internet dating platform, but with a small twist. Classic dating apps like Tinder or Hinge use complex algorithms to mine profiles of users and propose matches depending on similar interests among other criteria. On the contrary, the Ponder app permits its users “play cupid” by setting up a system of “matchees” and “matchmakers”. If a matchmaker fruitfully pairs singles or friends in their matchmaking category, he or she wins $10. On the other hand, if their relationship leads to marriage, the matchmakers have a chance of winning up to $1,000.
