Fundamentals will ultimately lead to outperforming the market. That is why Ethereum has reclaimed 2nd place in market cap. I feel other quality names will soon follow. I would expect total market cap to stay relatively equal or come down a bit but the quality names will be less impacted.

Ultimately, every half decent coin increases over time as more money is poured into the cryptos, so as long as the total market is under 1 trillion $, investing like a noob is a perfectly fine decision.
I agree that a lot of it is FOMO that is driving the mania. Some of the altcoins are still expensive where the average person can't dump a ton of money to coins, but I have friends that dumped $100 into really cheap alt-coins just because "they will PROBABLY go up" without any research.
