Russians Love Cryptocurrency

Whereas Russian officials have taken a mixed stance on the legal status of cryptocurrencies, they have also recognized the innovative capabilities of this new technology. Vladimir Putin has talked about the prospect of creating CryptoRouble, a Russian cryptocurrency, and has recently stressed that Russia must take maximum advantage of this emerging technology. The idea of a global economy not dominated by the U.S dollar has great appeal for Russia. With increasing levels of governmental support such as this, we might see the Russian legal system take a softer stance on cryptocurrency.

Putin seems to have indicated that they want to take advantage of the crypto space. Also Buterin has a lot of pull and connections in Rusia. He knows they are interested.

He was saying also that they mustn't get left behind and allow the designers of this tech dictate everything, but it seems that they grasp the potential well and want to cooperate. I can see this benefiting the cryptospace as a whole.

They have a great talent and a technical skills pool to draw from.; more so than most countries. If any country is hostile to this technology and tries to fight it instead of nurturing it, that country will be falling behind. When tech will be the biggest economy, the 3rd world will be made of the countries that fought it and tried to hold on to their old ways.

Indeed, there are ~155 million russians, the peaks of that bell curve have produced some of the finest minds ever. I think Russia accepting cryptocurrency shows something important, because they have a history of closing off from the West; it shows that this technology truly is a global force, and can't be seized by any single state or individual.
