UP AND RUNNING AGAIN
Hello everyone I am back up and running again. Basically one whole week down the drain but I suppose it could have been worse. It wasn't straight forward by any means as it took plenty of phone calls and speaking to the right people. Apparently there are still 50 % of subscribers still not sorted. This company employed thousands to dig the trenched to lay the cable but that seems about it. I would hate to know how many people they employ now and what plans are in place to rectify the issues. I am very skeptical as this place works on a friend of a friend sort of system keeping certain people happy.
What happened to providing a service and pleasing customers. It just seems to have disappeared over the last decade or so. Companies are hit and miss and with limited competition standards have slipped. I envy countries that have more than one power utility as to stay in business they cant rest on their laurels.
I would rather see certain sectors get privatized and taken away from government control as it should remove all the red tape and bureaucracy. When we have choices we can make a decision on price and service but when there is no competition you have no choice but to accept the shoddy standards dished out.
The internet provider that we have has been given their licence by the government and have only been providing a "service" for 4 months so it is new. If they have these hiccups now god knows where they will be in a years time. Either they are capable of doing it or someone has received a large backhand as we do live in Africa. I hope it is the former but I am not going to hold my breath on this one.
We are kind of stuck with the same electric company here in the United States but they are pretty good and well regulated, I was wondering how your payout looks on Steemit, it shows here on my phone you have $2. 80, Does it show the payout in your currency and how much would $2. 80 buy you in South Africa?
It is exactly the same as you see it. $1 is around R 13. 30 or so. That doesn't go very far so maybe a loaf of bread. I was in the States a few years ago and found it fairly cheap for what we pay for things. Electricity is expensive and is rising between 15 and 20 percent per year. Fuel has just gone up and is just squeezing everyone now. The country is going through a recession but not everyone can see it yet.
I read your post from last week about your time on the base,Big thumbs up and enjoyed reading it!

Privatization these days in most markets is the way to go in order to weed out corruption and in SA we get taught how low corruption can go to new levels every day.
