The Leaky Borders Protected By A "Washing Line"

Apparently Zimbabwean officials were handing out 5 year bans for all deported Zimbabweans from returning to South Africa.

The new border fence has been nicknamed the "washing line" as it is not really an obstacle.

The funny thing is the fence was being stolen as it was being put up.

I find it funny that it takes a pandemic to actually get things moving that should have been done a long time ago. South Africa has been inundated with foreign nationals from neighboring countries and there have been no controls. Paperwork was rarely done correctly leaving the country with no idea how many people they have within it's borders.

Zimbabwean criminals being released back to Zimbabwe who will most likely be back within hours of the bus departing Zimbabwe. The joke is most of these will beat the bus back.
In the early hours of this morning 30 coach loads of Zimbabweans were deported and this is nothing in the bigger scheme of things. Estimates have it as high as 10 million Zimbabweans currently residing in South Africa whereas the government will say about half of that figure. The truth is no one really knows.

South Africa is not alone in this as Botswana has been doing the same thing but on a bigger scale. it is not surprising that Botswana is rated so highly as an investment opportunity as they have little corruption and a sound economy.
It is not surprising to see these types of numbers as South Africa has 54 routes or gates into the country.
17 with Botswana
14 with Lesotho
07 with Namibia
04 with Mozambique
11 with Swaziland
01 with Zimbabwe

Recovery of stolen vehicle in the Limpopo River (January).Don't steal cars in the rainy season.

High end Mercedes being pulled by donkeys was recovered.
The one with Zimbabwe is a joke as the Limpopo River must be the biggest gate and route most frequently used. When the river is at it's lowest cars even get stuck in the mud and are left unless they have the resources to tow it out.

Smugglers trade Zimbabwean alcohol for food as things are that desperate in Zimbabwe.
Last month South Africa erected a new border fence which will have little to no effect. If you are going to do a job then do it properly and barbed wire is not an answer. The fence was cut within hours showing how pathetic the solution was.The problem is if you can't control your immigration then how are you going to control the crime?
South Africa has a very high crime rate and I believe the illegal migrants are at the root of most of it. It was common knowledge that the shop heists of the phone shops and Apple Stores was down to syndicates filling orders for neighboring countries. Every year at the same time a month before Christmas these robberies occur. Santas wish list from our friends living next door.
The hijacked cars that only seem to be high end 4 x 4's are destined for the African markets and head to the Mozambican border. This is why the tracking units have such a high presence on the road especially in Northern Natal as it is the last chance to catch them before they are gone forever.
The South African people mostly have had enough of the thieving and corruption and having your job taken by a foreigner is the last straw. It is high time the government put it's people first employing local educated people over those coming from across the fence. Hopefully this is the start and there will be a big drive to find all the illegals over the lock down period.
