There has been talk of making the current season in the English Premiership null and void. I can see the argument if there were fewer than half the games played but we are talking about a season that has played over 75% of it's matches.

The Premier League would have to vote on this and they would need 14 votes for it to be passed as a majority. The current top 4 would not vote against this being Liverpool,Manchester City, Leicester and Chelsea who currently occupy the Champions League spots. That leaves 16 sides who could possibly vote for the null and void and a reset for next season starting a fresh.

Sheffield United would never vote for this either as they have a possibility of getting into the top 4 and who knows if they could do the same thing again next season so that means we are up to 5 and in theory are looking for 2 more clubs to possibly vote in favor of keeping the current season as is. The teams who are normally fighting relegation like Newcastle,Crystal Palace and Southampton would not be too happy either as they are comfortable in mid table.

I think Manchester United, Wolves and Tottenham would also still fancy their chances of Champions League qualification.Manchester United play Chelsea next and could leap frog them into the 4th spot which is more than just a possibility as Chelsea are not exactly a decent side this season.

If the clubs are serious about making this season null and void then they would look like sour grapes and something more underhand happening than just being fair. This is all about teams trying to survive and fight another day as the premiership is the promised land of mega payouts.

The television rights would have to be cut by 25 percent so no more the guaranteed 100 Million, but now only 75 Million. I just think it is too early to even discuss as I think this years league could be made up by playing extra games even if it is at the beginning of next season. Instead of having warm up matches use that time and complete this years league. Nine matches can be completed in less than a month as the Christmas period has proved that it is possible.

Too many sides benefit from scrapping this season including Tottenham who will be back in the Champions League then. The FA and the Premier League Clubs need to think carefully at who is benefiting the most and what Karen Brady said the other day is just dumb in my way of thinking as she is trying to save her club who are on the verge of relegation. I just find the whole proposal ludicrous and unethical as football is the real loser at the end of the day.

Another solution is to play until a Champion is crowned and then call the league off then. That would be fair as most likely that would be a minimum of two more games or possibly 3. Every club would be in the same position so if they are in the relegation zone they know what they need to do.
