Banned adverts,having fun down memory lane.
Thought I would do something different for a slow Saturday night and throw some fun at it.It wasn't that long ago that we could have a laugh at some adverts on television and were most likely better than the film we were watching. Some were more risky than others and had a few airings before they got banned. I am going to dig up a few to remind you of how good some of them were. If you missed them and haven't seen them you are in for a treat. Most of them went viral on the internet in the eighties and early nineties. I have dodged the condom adverts for now as they were something else.
Today they wouldn't even get an airing and the fun has disappeared. Animal lovers would have a field day with the John West advert. Poking a bit of fun did wonders for this company as everyone knows John West because of it. If it wasn't a household name before it aired it certainly was afterwards.
Sticking with canned fish and originality how good is this one. No company would have the guts to do this today and most likely it would get banned anyway.
This is another advert for an anti car theft retrieval device aired in 1984, yes 35 years ago we had adverts this good. Imagine airing this one now as someone would squeal about a chimpanzee in the boot of a car and not about the guy being tossed off a bridge.
A bonus one from a Thai optician that went viral on the internet many years ago. I don't know if it did the opticians any good but it is still a classic and worth watching.
Maybe some of you haven't seen them as I am slightly older and have to trawl back many years into the memory banks to find some classics for you to watch. I still smile when I watch them and I am sure you will to as they are timeless.There are a few that I am struggling to find,but I will find them somewhere.

I haven't seen any of those but I truly can't imagine that any of them would be approved nowadays :D Regardless of that, they gave me a good laugh :) I would rather watch some fun adverts than adverts with hidden messages having impact on us..

Only a pleasure. It is fun to go back and look and see what was acceptable then. I have some more coming which are a little more shocking, but it is all good fun.
I enjoy them to and can't believe that was for diet tuna. Can you imagine Spec savers doing an advert like the Thai one with the sperm bank? German Coastguard is another good old one.
The last one cracked me up. LOL
There are so many. I just need to remember them.

I did create a banner for my blogger blog. I really suck at this, but pretty proud on the achievement.

The image quality is not what we are used to at the moment, but still a good one!

Those are pretty funny. Every so often in the states they have a primetime special were they just spend two hours going back and looking at old and funny commercials. Especially around these times when Superbowl commercials are the big talk.
