The Scottish Money Scam

in #scam9 years ago (edited)

One of the most simple but clever scams of all time. What's worse is the fact it still works. Here is some Scottish REAL money, £30 to be precise but if you look closely you see all three notes are different even though they are the same amount. Same for 20's and 50 notes. IMG_2194.JPG
So how does the simple scam work?

Well in England or Wales they accept Scottish notes and believe it or not there is no way to check there legitimacy! So if you was to walk into Tesco in say Southampton and a young chap was working and you had fake not real ofcourse but FAKE Scottish notes that may I add can be easily picked up on multiple dark net markets, street dealers etc you could change the notes for English sterling notes and pennies! Ofcourse I don't advise this and there is some flaws and things to think about but it's actually very easy. It's almost humorous that I sat here and realised how easy it was after some google and tor browser.

If they didn't have such a large variety of notes for the same amount of value it would be easier for English citizens to distinguish what is real and what is fake with Scottish money! Not all places in England and Wales accept Scottish money and it's easier to spot fake notes in the UK when it's English money because we only have 1 note per value. Scotland on the other hand is a joke.

Hope you enjoyed.

That is crazy! Isn't the whole point of paper money to be nearly identical so people can at least try and spot fakes? Thanks for sharing this!

Ridiculous isn't it. The boss of my company takes all notes from the weekend to the bank to be checked and even then he loses the money if there fake.

I mean this is one of the oldest scams ever pulled they used to weight coins with lead lol but to see it still today in paper money is insanity! Thank god for crypto!

What is the point of checking it then?

They take in thousands at one Scottish festival. It has to be banked.

But I asked the same question. His cash flow is far to much to be pissing about changing it up over time to get it into £. He needs to cash it in to pay wages, tax expenses etc asap. Just the nature of cash. He's trying to establish a system where they pay directly into banks some do have accounts but a lot want to pay cash on site you see.
