Merry Christmas you Filthy Animals
Christmas Day is upon us. That means getting up at the ass crack of dawn to start cooking. It also means hosting your family which is both great and stressful. There will be your crazy uncle spouting off the most ludicrous political theories and don’t forget your screaming nieces and nephews. In all honesty it’s great to get together.
To loosen up and prepare for the upcoming madness I’m drinking a little Rye Hipster brunch stout. It’s a delectable stout with coffee, maple syrup, and bacon with rye malt added, and then aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels. It’s a mouthful to say, but it’s one of my favorite beers by odd side ales.
It pours dark and frothy with a nice tan head. It a mildly carbonated beer that has complex toasted and roasted coffee notes. It’s boozy and slightly spicy from the rye whiskey.
The flavor is a lot like the aroma, malt, coffee, maple and vanilla are the forward flavors. The back is sweet and boozy. It packs a punch at 11% ABV, but it taste more like a 6-7% ABV beer.
There no bitterness in this beer which makes it a beer you could enjoy in the morning like the name says. If your not a beer fan this one is for you because I would say it taste more like coffee.
This will probably the first of many day beers this day so you get to look forward to a few more reviews.
