Scorpion Pepper (Very Hot) Sauce: Cooking with Crypticat
Hi Everyone 😺
Caution: This sauce is extremely hot!
You may remember I made a post back in May about gardening, well the peppers didn't grow properly as there isn't enough sun for Scorpion peppers on the balcony. Luckily, I gave a seedling to a friend to grow and received quite the dividend! There isn't much aside from making a sauce that you can do with these peppers as they are too hot to eat on their own.
Ingredients
1 Tomato
1 Onion
4-6 Scorpion Peppers (unless you want to make mace)
1 Cup of vinegar (apple cider)
3 Cloves of garlic
1 tsp of salt
1 TBSP of olive oil
10 Leaves of fresh basil
- You can add carrots before and various spices but only need salt, vinegar, and hot peppers-the rest of the ingredients are just for dilution
Directions
- Wear Gloves! Remove the seeds and stems from the peppers. Don't touch your eyes, nose, mouth, or anything you care for. Dice them up along with the garlic, onions, and tomatoes
Heat some olive oil in a pan
Saute the peppers, onions, and garlic
Add tomatoes and basil; cook for about 10 minutes
Add salt and vinegar; simmer for 15-20 minutes. (You can also add water if you wish to further dilute the sauce)
Transfer to a blender/food processor and grind it into a liquid
Store in a sanitized and sealed bottle
Thank you for taking the time to read about making this extremely hot sauce. I've tried making both scorpion and ghost pepper sauce. You really should do this in a well-ventilated place and wear gloves; don't touch your eyes, and wash your hands a few times after. Don't ask the kids to help either, this stuff isn't a joke, especially the undiluted stuff. If you do it properly you can actually taste the flavor of the peppers and not just heat-I only recommend trying this if you use regular hot sauce like ketchup.
