Big Spam Cleanup Initiative
Are you tired of bots, scripts, and spam on steemit that discourage hard working authors to join and create great content?
Pick the one of your choice! There are small ones that could be used by fishes, and big ones to be used by the Whales. Physical work is healthy :)
Spamming, Blackmailing, Making conditional comments and similar only hurts the quality. Even engaging in such activities by users makes low quality content to get's upvoted. Do we want that?
The initiative is very simple. Whenever you see something like this, report it.
It costs only a second of your time, but benefits the community. If we all start fighting spam:
- We make this place better with more quality content.
- More quality content means more things to learn. Not everything is about making money right? Sometimes, it's nice to read a good blog post, nice photo or a song
- We directly raise the price of steem and earn way more, as the more quality will attract more quality authors. And quality authors are more likely to read and upvote you.
It's ok to think of Steemit like a place to make money. But do you want to work in nice and pleasant office, or ruined place with tons of nonsense?
Pick up the broom of your choice, and start flagging spammers.
I'm not the person who reported anyone on any site ever! But spammers here are rude to a level that I am going to start.
Looking forward for more people focused of quality content to join the initiative. No matter how much steem power you have, your action matters .
How this affect Big Fishes and Whales? - Much more then small players.
The simple rule of economy: If no value is produced, currency will be worth nothing.
Another option would be to hit the 'Mute' button on these spammers - if we all mute them they would be wasting their time. Great article and initiative, thanks
I do that in my posts, but the problem is that I am muting them only for myself. This way we are making their job useless. If this become practice, they will be out of their job of trying to make quick money without putting any value. But i guess whatever we do against spam is a good one, so I support any action taken!

I agree that something has to be done about all the spam cluttering steemit. What's worse, the same post being used verbatim across the board by more than 1 poster. It has to stop somewhere.
The problem has also more serious side. They are earning but not producing any value. That could easy lead into drop of steem price. The economy at it's simplest form says, that drop is going to be directly proportional to their earnings where no real value is produced. It's a serious problem that could crash the whole system, as well annoy us to hell and back.
